Xavi has named three players in his recent interview as he spoke about his desire of coaching Barcelona soon
The Barça legend gave an interview to La Vanguardia in which he spoke about his working methods. Xavi Hernandez has reiterated his desire to coach Barcelona in the future. He would enlist people within his close circle who know the club inside out to work alongside him if that happens. He also said that he would sign different players.
Xavi wants to return to Barcelona as the Head Coach.
Hernandez is currently in charge of Al-Sadd in Qatar, where he ended his playing career. He turned down an approach in January after Barca sacked Ernesto Valverde, which led to the appointment of Quique Setien. But suggests he will not return until a different board brings a new sense of direction to the club. The relationship between Barcelona’s board, led by president Josep Maria Bartomeu, and the players have remained tense. Lionel Messi’s public criticism of technical secretary Eric Abidal is one of a number of off-field controversies.
“I am clear that I want to return to Barca, I am very excited. Obviously I would like to be in tune with everyone. In the dressing room, there can’t be a negative or toxic atmosphere.”Source: AS
One player among the three Xavi is planning to sign is PSG star Neymar. Moreover, the Brazillian has been linked to a move back to Barcelona for a long time now. Spanish newspaper Sport also reported that Nou Camp chiefs want Neymar to make a return to the club he left last two seasons. There is a vision that the Brazilian will still be a good partner with Lionel Messi up front next season for Barcelona.
When asked about his potential signings if he were in charge of Barcelona, he said, “I would sign wingers. Players like Neymar. I don’t know if he would fit because of the social aspect, in the footballing sense I have no doubt that he would be a spectacular signing.”
Who are his other upcoming signings?
“Barcelona has good players through the middle but they lack wingers like the ones Bayern have like Jadon Sancho, Serge Gnabry.”
Barcelona legend Xavi Hernandez says the club should sign wingers and look to bring in Jadon Sancho and Serge Gnabry. The £100 million winger is likely to leave Borussia Dortmund this summer with Manchester United, Chelsea and Liverpool all interested. Xavi believes Barcelona should not be left in the race for the 20-year-old’s signature either.
Xavi feels those players would make a big difference to a Barca side already brimming with world-class talent. He named Marc Andre Ter Stegen, Jordi Alba, Gerard Pique, Sergio Busquets, and Lionel Messi as the best in the world in their respective positions.
