The possibility of Ronald Koeman not continuing at Barcelona next season is gaining strength, according to journalist Alfredo Martinez. And Barcelona has reportedly opened talks with Xavi to succeed him.
Spanish publication Sport reports that Xavi will be coming to Barcelona this week although it will probably be a vacation. And a picture has recently surfaced on the internet that is doing rounds on all the major social media platforms.
Xavi’s wife, Nuria Cunillera, has posted a photo of her family with packed luggage lying all around. The kind of photos one posts before leaving on a trip. She uploaded the picture on her Instagram story on the 15th of May. And this has kickstarted rumors among the Barca fans who suspect that it may not be just a vacation.
The picture shows at least 9 suitcases all stacked up, with one of their children standing in the centre. This has raised questions among the fans on Twitter. And the primary suspicion is that the move may be a permanent one back to Xavi’s home club.
A major Barcelona fan account, Barca Times tweeted the same picture with the caption “The Xavi family on their way to a holiday in Barcelona. They took a lot of luggage and it did not look like a normal vacation…”
Other fans hoping to see their club legend back at the dugout chipped in their comments as well. Clearly, the culers are desperate to see their legendary midfielder back at Barca.
A move at this stage might just make sense for Barcelona and Xavi
Catalan outlet ARA Esports reveal that President Joan Laporta is now preparing to take advantage of Xavi’s arrival. The President is all set to meet with Al Sadd’s manager in the upcoming days.
Following a poor run of results in La Liga, Ronald Koeman’s position is now really in jeopardy. And now according to various reports in Spain, his dismissal is only a matter of time.
The Dutch manager will probably play his last game as the manager in Barca’s last game against Eibar. And Xavi’s name is obviously on the table. Sport reports that the dressing room privately supports his arrival as well.
Another top-tier journalist Javi Miguel however has claimed that the environment of Xavi had denied any connection with Barca. But that does not imply that there cannot be meetings in the near future.
Xavi has just signed a new contract with his club Al Sadd for two more years. He claimed last week that there was no “special clause” that allowed him to leave if Barca called him up.
However, it is widely believed that even if there is no such clause, Al Sadd will not have a problem. Now, all we need to see is if those numerous suitcases are actually packed up for just a normal vacation or a permanent move.
