Mikel Arteta can’t have another season of experiment in North London. The Spanish head coach has got a safe passage last season even the team struggled in the domestic competition. The Gunners fans were convinced with the support of the Arsenal board to Arteta. But, they demand some change in attitude next season from the team.
The European transfer window is live and North London already got an agenda for the upcoming season. The backline of Gunners demands more reinforcements in terms of power. Sources report the interest of Emirates in English defender of Brighton Ben White.
As per Football London, Arsenal are closing to the deal as they are ready to sell some of the big names from the squad. Players including Granit Xhaka, Dinos Mavropanos, Matteo Guendouzi, and Lucas Torreira are on the verge of transfer talks.
Case of William Saliba at Arsenal
The 20-year-old French defender of Arsenal is in transfer talks regarding an exit in the summer transfer window. The player signed for Gunners in 2019 from Saint-Etienne on a transfer fee of £30 million.
But, the player failed to start for the senior side and loaned out for two seasons. His contract with Gunners runs till the summer of 2024. His loan spell at League 1 side OGC Nice will end this summer and he is ready for a return to North London.
Even though, the playing minutes under Arteta is not guaranteed as he is yet to prove himself in front of the Spanish boss. Rumors are saying that the player will leave the side this summer if Gunners sign Ben White for a good cause.
But, the age of the player force Arteta for a second thought. He was quite good at Saint-Etienne in the first year on loan from Arsenal. Meanwhile, the 25-year-old defender Lucas Torreira is also on the rumors suggesting a move to Serie A side Lazio.
What Arteta Says?
About the rumor on William Saliba, Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta said, “William is our player for sure and that’s the decision we’re going to be taking soon. He is our player so he’ll be back here for sure. After that, we will make a decision based on an agreement of the role each player is going to have in our squad.”
Bosnian defender Sead Kolasinac is targeted by Turkish club Fenerbahce. The left-back is playing for Schalke on loan and will return to Arsenal this summer. He got one more year in his North London contract. But, if a set of reinforcements happen in the backline, he can’t withstand the process.
After all, the pandemic-affected economy of the club won’t favor a massive signing at the back. The option of Ben White is under the reach of Gunners’ finance. But it depends on the exits from the current side.
The transfer window is observing the international break of the game. Players can benefit from the fixtures before the next season of club football. Most of the rumors will see drastic progress once the international fixture got over.
Arsenal finished 8th on the Premier League table last season and failed to qualify for European competitions for the first time since the 1994–95 season. This will obviously add more fire to the transfer speculations in North London.
