We Like Working With Him- Chelsea Star On Antonio Conte

Chelsea midfielder Tiemoue Bakayoko has hinted that he would be disappointed if Antonio Conte left the club in the summer.

The Blues have had a rather underwhelming campaign in the Premier League and finished outside the top 4, ineligible for Champions League football next season. Chelsea suffered humiliation at the hands of Newcastle United at Saint James’ Park on the final match day which put manager Conte’s job under further jeopardy.

However, the Italian seems to have left a mark on some of his players at the club especially summer signing Tiemoue Bakayoko. The 24-year-old midfielder arrived from Ligue 1 side AS Monaco but has hardly impressed at Stamford Bridge ever since making the switch.

Conte’s contract with Chelsea expires in 2018/19 but there are rumors that the 48-year-old could get the sack after the FA Cup final against Manchester United.

Bakayoko Would Be Sad If Conte Leaves-

Speaking to Sky Sports the Frenchman said that Conte hasn’t publicly stated he wants to leave the West London outfit and that he has been pleased with working alongside his new boss, “He’s never said that he might leave and he’s always extremely focused on winning, on doing well in the season.”

Bakayoko went on to add that he would be upset if Conte left this summer, “As a player, I would be disappointed [if he leaves]. We all like working with the coach and having this relationship in the long-term. I’ve been working with him for a year and I’ve progressed a lot under him but it’s really up to the club management, up to him and his entourage but he hasn’t said anything.”

Author’s Take-

If a player like Bakayoko, who has had a horrid start to life in Chelsea stated that he wants Conte to stay at the club, it speaks volumes of the Italian. Conte has been extremely passionate and loving with his players even though he wasn’t given any say in the transfers. Chelsea is making a huge mistake if they terminate his contract in the next few weeks.
