Liverpool is pursuing Watford winger Ismaila Sarr to seal the transfer in the summer.
Liverpool is in the pursuit of Watford star Ismaila Sarr ahead of potential transfer this summer. The 22-year old is a long term transfer target for Reds. The interest in the winger elevated after he shone for Watford during the Premier League clash.
It was during February when Sarr scored two goals with an assist and celebrated a 3-0 win over Liverpool. Henceforth, the defeat ended Reds’ unbeatable runs of 44 matches.
Liverpool has lifted the Premier League trophy for the first time in history after defeating Chelsea at home. Despite having a dominant season, the Premier League champions are linked with a number of big names. However, they won’t spend on big transfers because of the limits set on spending something and are surprisingly looking for alternatives in attackers.
Jürgen Klopp’s side is looking for some decent signings in the upcoming transfer window. They are reportedly keeping tabs on acquiring Watford forward Ismaila Sarr services according to the Daily Mail.
Ismaila Sarr has a decent season at Watford and has established himself as one of a regular player for them. The 22-year-old has been in good form despite Watford facing the relegation from the Champions League this season. The Senegalese forward has successfully bagged five goals and has given six assists in 28 Premier League appearances.
Sarr after getting relegated would surely want to move elsewhere for the new experience. He’s got better this season in the Premier League and has become a standout player. In 2019, he was signed for £30million from Rennes. This suggests he has four years left on his current contract to run down. This seems quite difficult for Liverpool to sign him.
Liverpool has a sweetener to add for Sarr to sign a deal
Sarr who can play both as a winger and a striker is friends with Liverpool star Sadio Mane. The Senegalese teammate requested Watford captain Troy Deeney to look after him during the clash in December.
While Sarr has also stated that he sees Sadio Mane as an inspiration and as his idol. Moreover, he sees him as the best player in the world.
On the other hand, Mane has also been a big brother to him. Assuring that he settles well away from home when he arrived in England. If the deal happens, both the Senegal international could reunite at Anfield.
The 22-year old comes with a little amount of £22million and Liverpool might tag him as an affordable transfer business later. Manchester United is also keeping tabs on Sarr’s activity and might jump in between.
Should Liverpool decide to make a move for him? The Senegalese winger would add the depth in the attacking area and might prove as a good deal in such amount. Liverpool already lost Adam Lallana to fellow Premier League club Brighton on a free transfer. Xherdan Shaqiri might follow his footsteps.
