Amit Mishra is the most experienced spinner in the history of the Indian Premier League. The veteran spinner is also the second leading wicket-taker in the tournament.
The 38-year-old experienced campaigner has played 154 matches in his IPL career. He has bagged as many as 166 wickets at an impressive bowling average of 23.97.
The right-arm leg-spinner has also maintained an impressive economy rate of 7.37. He has bagged 4 four-wicket hauls and 1 five-wicket haul, registering his best bowling figures of 5/17.
Mishra is also the only bowler in the history of the IPL who has bagged 3 hat-tricks. This is such an amazing record. Currently, he is plying his trade for Delhi Capitals in the ongoing edition of the Indian Premier League.
Meanwhile, Amit Mishra came under fire after he applied saliva on the ball during the IPL game against Royal Challengers Bangalore at Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad.
The Delhi Capitals’ spinner accidentally applied the saliva before bowling his first ball. The veteran spinner was brought into the attack in the sixth over of the innings.
On-field umpire warns Amit Mishra for applying saliva on the ball
The on-field umpire Virender Sharma was quick to spot it and then gave the first warning to Delhi Capitals captain Rishabh Pant. Last year, the ICC had banned the use of saliva on the white leather amid coronavirus epidemic.
Cricketers would receive a first warning if they don’t abide by the rules. If players apply the saliva even accidentally for the second time, then a 5-run penalty is imposed on the team which the guilty player belongs to.
