Virat Kohli faces arrest petition in the Madras High Court for promoting ‘Online Gambling’.
Virat Kohli is now in the news but this time for a wrong reason. A Chennai based advocate has filed a petition against the Indian Cricket Team Captain Virat Kohli and the actress Tamannah Bhatia for promoting online gambling. The arrest petition has been filed in the Madras High Court. According to the petitioner, young minds are starting to get addicted to gambling.
Virat Kohli is currently spending time with his wife Anushka Sharma in his Mumbai residence due to the coronavirus pandemic. Kohli last played cricket during the Test Series against New Zealand earlier this year.
However, he suffered from a lack of runs during that tour. The petition informs that online gambling companies are making use of celebrities like Kohli and Tamannah to promote gambling within the youngsters.
Kohli is in trouble!
Times Now reports that the petitioner wants both Kohli and Tamannah behind the jail. He cleared it by saying that if any youngster commits suicide and dies, that person won’t be able to fulfill the payment taken for online gambling. Meanwhile, reports say that the case will have a hearing on Tuesday, August 4.
Virat has not been on the field for the last five months. However, he has kept in touch with his fans through social media. He has been very active on social media during this isolation period.
Kohli has even contributed to the PM Relief funds to help during the coronavirus pandemic. Both him and Anushka has been posting videos on social media to make people aware of the regulations to follow to fight with the pandemic.
Contributions for the Bihar and Assam Floods
Currently, Bihar and Assam are suffering from the floods. several sports personalities including Virat Kohli has come out in open to support the victims of the floods. In this regard, Kohli posted a tweet by sharing a video saying, “#WeAreTogetherForAssamAndBihar Our countrymen need us in these troubled times. Let’s do our part in helping them.”
The sports personalities will raise money for the victims by placing their prized possessions in the auction. Virat Kohli has placed a pair of his Team India bats for auction.
He has even been part of some lives shows like ‘Cricket Connected’ on Star Sports. Kohli even has an interactive session with Bangladeshi cricketer Tamim Iqbal. Tamim will not be part of the upcoming Indian Premier League, which is set to kickstart on September 19 in the UAE.
Virat Kohli will lead the Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) again in this year’s IPL. He has still not won the IPL. Kohli has been part of the RCB franchise since the inaugural edition of the IPL in 2008.
The RCB captain is now the highest scorer in the IPL. He has smashed 5 centuries in the tournament. Out of the 5, he hit four in the 2016 season itself.
