Villarreal winger Samuel Chukwuezeis now chased by Arsenal and Chelsea.
Samuel Chukwueze who plays as a winger for Villarreal has sent sensations all over the world. The Nigerian is considered to be one of the promising young players the La Liga has to offer.
Chukwueze has become a core part of the infrastructure at Villarreal. In a recent list published on the UEFA’s official website, he was labeled as one of the players to watch in the future. Which goes in hand with his transfer value at $33 million. The youngster has drawn attention from various big clubs like Bayern, Atletico, PSG, Manchester City, Liverpool, Arsenal and Chelsea.
Samuel Chukwueze linked to Arsenal
According to a report from teamtalk Chukwueze was very close to complete the move to Arsenal in 2016. He stated, “It was very close for me to sign for Arsenal, almost had the contract in my hands”. But Arsenal did not agree to the terms of the contract and he slipped away.
Although Arsenal has shown renewed interest in the Nigerian. Santi Cazorla ex-Arsenal player in his statement to the Marca said that Arsenal had made an inquiry about Chukwueze to him and Pau Torres. Cazorla feels its good for such big clubs to show interest but both players would be better off just concentrating on football right now. “There is still a lot of development they both need to go through”.
Chukwueze joins a list of players who could have been playing for Arsenal since they were 16 which includes Carlos Tevez, Robin Van Persie, etc.
In his statement to teamtalk, Chukwueze said that he still has ambitions of playing in the Premier League someday. He is also taking English lessons which makes a move to the Premier League even more probable.
Was heartbroken when Chelsea lost to Manchester United in the 2008 Champions League
Even though Arsenal were the ones to show interest in the 20-year-old striker, the man himself spoke about how he’s been a Chelsea fan since his childhood days. Chukwueze on his Instagram Live stated that Chelsea was his favorite club. The player stated that he was heartbroken when Chelsea lost to Manchester United in the 2008 Champions League Final, a match truly to be remembered for ages.
“I ended up crying the whole night”, he said.
This is clearly an indication for his love for the Blues and opens up a possibility for his move to Stamford Bridge.
But Chelsea has recently signed Hakim Ziyech from Ajax for a fee of €40 million euros. He is in exceptional form having scored 20 goals for the past 3 seasons. So objectively the move for Chukwueze seems unlikely at the moment.
However, there is a strong possibility that we see the move happening a few years down the line.
