Punjab Kings locked horns with Rajasthan Royals in their first game. The game is taking place at Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai. Rajasthan Royals captain Sanju Samson won the toss and decided to bowl first.
Chetan Sakariya provided an early breakthrough by getting rid of opening batsman Mayank Agarwal. This is his maiden wicket in IPL. Mayank made his way back to the pavilion after scoring 14 off 9 balls including 2 boudaries.
However, Chris Gayle and KL Rahul took the bowling attack to the cleaners. The left and right hand combination did a world of good by adding a 67-run stand for the second wicket.
The Universe Boss scored an impressive 40 off 28 deliveries with the help of 4 fours and 2 sixes at a strike rate of 142.86. Riyan Parag got the prized wicket of West Indies international.
Sakariya takes a scorcher to dismiss Pooran
Punjab Kings looked much more dangerous with Deepak Hooda in their machinery. Hooda combined his innings with a blend of caution and aggression and changed the complexion of the game.
The right-handed batsman scored 64 off 28 balls including 4 fours and 6 sixes at a staggering strike rate of 228.57. Punjab Kings already did a lot of damage to the opposition and were in the comfort zone.
During the last ball of the 18th over, the cricket fraternity witnessed a sensational incident. Chetan Sakariya stunned everyone by taking a scorcher to get rid of West Indies’ danger man Nicholas Pooran.

Nicholas Pooran is known for his potential to clear the balls out of the park. He decided to attack in the first ball itself. In doing so, he hit the ball towards fly slip. Meanwhile, Sakariya dived fully towards his left to take a screamer. Sakariya took 3 wickets on his debut.
