Delhi Capitals captain Rishabh Pant single-handedly carried his team during the match against Rajasthan Royals at Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai. Batting first, DC lacked the killer instinct in terms of batting.
They kept on losing wickets at regular intervals. However, Rishabh Pant played quite superbly as he took the RR’s bowling attack to the cleaners. Earlier, Prithvi Shaw, Shikhar Dhawan and Ajinkya Rahane departed for single-digit scores.
Pant smacked 9 boundaries to his name as he went on to score a brilliant half-century. Just as when he looked set to convert his fifty into a big knock, Riyan Parag hit the bull’s eye as Pant was run out in the 13th over.
The likes of Lalit Yadav and Tom Curran chipped in with 20 and 21 respectively. Chris Woakes scored 15 off 11 deliveries. These small knocked helped Delhi Capitals get to 147/8 in their quota of 20 overs.
Jaydev Unadkat, Chris Morris and Mustafizur Rahman were among the wicket-takers for Rajasthan Royals. Unadkat was the pick of the bowlers as he took 3 wickets to his name at an economy of 3.80.
Unadkat conceded only 15 runs in his quota of 4 overs. On the other hand, Mustafizur Rahman accounted for 2 dismissals, giving away 29 runs. Chris Morris who bowled 3 overs managed to pick up a wicket.
Rishabh Pant misses an easy run-out
Rishabh Pant has just begun to learn the tricks and trade of wicketkeeping. The young wicketkeeper has certainly worked on his keeping skills. But during the 18th over of RR’s batting, Pant missed an easy stumping chance to get rid of Jaydev Unadkat.
When Tom Curran bowled to Chris Morris, the South African all-rounder took 1 run. After completing 1 run, Unadkat decided to take another run where he ran halfway down the pitch. But he slipped while getting back to the striker’s end. Pant had all the time to dislodge the bails but he fumbled an easy chance.
