Rishabh Pant is slowly turning out to one of the top batters in world cricket. The southpaw made his presence count during the Border Gavaskar Trophy series against Australia.
The wicketkeeper-batsman came in as a replacement for injured Wriddhiman Saha in the third and fourth Test. The 23-year-old converted all his chances to good effect in both the fixtures.
Initially, he scored a blistering 97 in the third match that ended in a pulsating draw. However, Pant showcased his true colors in the series decider where he scored an unbeaten 89* to help India clinch the series by 2-1.
For the first time in 32 years, Australia was defeated at their fortress Gabba. The mighty Indians accomplished the massive feat in the absence of Indian captain Virat Kohli.
Pant also showcased his mettle with the bat in the home Test series against England. He scored a sensational 91 in the Test opener in Chennai and scored an unbeaten half-century in the other game.
