All the aforementioned cricketers carved out a niche for themselves across formats. Talking about Pakistan captain Babar Azam in particular, he has made waves in the international circuit.
The 26-year-old hogged the limelight when he became the No.1 batsman in One-Day Internationals. Yes, you read it right. He is currently the top-ranked ODI batsman in the world.
Babar Azam capitalized the chances to good effect in their tour of South Africa. Babar went on to score his 13th ODI century against Proteas in his 76th innings. Thus, he became the quickest batsman to achieve this feat.
Earlier, former South Africa’s talismanic batsman Hashim Amla held the record for the quickest to 13 ODI centuries. The right-handed batsman took 83 innings to accomplish the feat.
Babar Azam executes a late shot to perfection
Sometimes, cricket is all about timing than power. There are batsmen who use immense power to play shots and there are others who often times the ball and thus making the shots look ‘effortless’.
Pakistan captain Babar Azam is a superb timer of the cricket ball. He was one of the top performers during the team’s tour of South Africa. Under his captaincy, Pakistan got the better of South Africa in the ODI series.

Pakistan clinch the T20I series
After winning the ODI series by 2-1, Pakistan comfortably won the four-match T20I series by 3-1. Babar Azam scored a match-winning blistering century in the third T20I against South Africa.
Pakistan captain was named the man of the match for his knock. South Africa had a chance to level the T20I series but they let it slip as Pakistan won the match by 3 wickets. Faheem Ashraf was the player of the match for his 3/17 in his quota of 4 overs.
