Chennai Super Kings are the second-most successful team in the history of the Indian Premier League. They are rated as the consistent side in the cash-rich league. MS Dhoni-led team made it to the final on 8 occasions.
CSK has managed to win three titles since the inception of the IPL. They won the IPL in 2010, 2011, and 2018 respectively. Unfortunately, they ran through troubled waters in the previous season of the IPL at the United Arab Emirates.
They secured a 7th place finish in the league table with 6 wins and 8 defeats. They failed to qualify for the IPL playoffs for the first time in history. However, the Super Kings will make sure that they don’t repeat the same mistake again.
The yellow army made valuable additions to their arsenal and they are expected to deliver the goods this time around. CSK acquired the services of Moeen Ali, Krishnappa Gowtham, Harisankar Reddy, Bhagavata Varma, and Cheteshwar Pujara in the auction.
Afghan pacer sends thunderbolts to CSK batsmen
Besides purchasing players in the mini IPL auction, CSK also roped in some handy net bowlers. Earlier in March, CSK roped in South Africa fast-bowler Hardus Viljoen. He was seen bowling to the CSK batsmen in the nets.
After that, CSK roped in Afghanistan prospects namely Noor Ahmed and Fazalhaq Farooqi. Noor Ahmed is a left-arm unorthodox spinner. On the other hand, Fazalhaq Farooqi is a left-arm pacer.
It didn’t much time for Farooqi to impress the cricket fraternity. The left-arm pacer gave absolutely everything in the nets session and made his presence count with his blistering pace.

The 20-year-old Afghan prospect sent thunderbolts to CSK batsmen in the nets which made a few heads turn. CSK franchise has been live-streaming some net sessions to let fans catch the preparations of favourite players ahead of the brand new season.
During the session, Fazalhaq Farooqi bowled at a brisk pace with good line and length to 3 CSK batsmen. Afghan pacer made his international debut in a T20I game against Zimbabwe.
Who is Fazalhaq Farooqi?
Fazalhaq Farooqi had a decent debut as he registered 1/27 in his quota of 4 overs. He got rid of opener Tinashe Kamunhukamwe by making a mess of his stumps. Thus he took his first wicket in the international circuit.
The left-arm pacer took the flight to India on March 24 to join the CSK squad as a net bowler. He may not be a part of the CSK set-up but is certainly helping CSK batsmen in the nets.
The 20-year-old pacer has featured in 12 First-Class matches where he took 22 wickets. He also took six wickets from six List-A games. CSK will begin their IPL campaign by taking on Delhi Capitals on April 10 at Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai.
