United have been linked this Belgian defender, but he remains coy over his future.
Manchester United target Toby Alderweireld has hinted he could do a U-turn to stay at Tottenham. The Belgian is currently on national duty with Belgium, but he isn’t ruling out anything as of yet. The Red Devils are looking to add a centre-back to their roster for a third consecutive year, as they hope to lure Alderweireld to the Old Trafford.
The 29-year-old is open to staying in North London, but talks with his current employers haven’t gone too well. He has two years remaining on his current deal and United are known to be negotiating with Tottenham hence. Spurs though want Martial in exchange, something which will complicate matters for Jose Mourinho’s side.
Alderweireld talks about Tottenham future
Currently, Alderweireld is focussing on the World Cup and said he could end up staying in North London. Speaking after Belgium’s 4-1 friendly win over Costa Rica, the centre-back seemed open about the idea of staying put. “Yeah, why not?” he said after being quizzed about him continuing playing for Spurs.

He further said,“I have two years left on my contract. I don’t know what is going to happen.” United have already signed full-back Diogo Dalot from Porto and have agreed to terms with Shakhtar’s midfielder Fred. Spurs, on the other hand, are yet to make any signing so far this summer.
Should United sign Alderweireld, they will take a step further towards their Premier League title bid. Alternatively, if the Belgian ends up staying put, it will be a boost for Spurs. The 29-year old seems unsure of his future and surely the upcoming weeks will provide further inputs on this saga.
