Chelsea and Manchester United have received a major boost to sign Juventus star forward Paulo Dybala. Prominent Italian journalist Umberto Zapelloni has hinted Dybala’s future at Allianz Stadium is in doubt, stating his agent causing problems.
Paulo Dybala is currently fighting for his place in the Juve squad. New manager Andrea Pirlo has preferred Alvaro Morata and Cristiano Ronaldo upfront this season. Dybala has made few appearances as well but most of them are from the substitute bench.
The 27-year-old has been struggling to play a key role at Old Lady and his National team as well. Despite his consistent performances in the last few seasons, he failed to gain the trust of Pirlo this season.
Serie A champions are struggling this season in league fixtures. The latest 2-0 win over Cagliari has helped them reach 4th position. Once again Dybala made a substitute appearance on Saturday evening, where Ronaldo scored a brace.
Dybala uncertain future at Juventus
Dybala has been under the shadow of Cristiano Ronaldo since Portuguese arrival in Turin. Before that Gonzalo Higuain was preferred over Dybala for two seasons. Player of his stature and caliber needed to be the center of any play around him.
Dybala is in his prime and tipped as a future Ballon d’Or winner. He needs to play regularly now for both club and the national team. He had made just 29 appearances for Argentina despite making a debut 5 years ago. Argentina has loads of forwards in their rank, Lionel Messi, Sergio Aguero, Gonzalo Higuain, Mauro Icardi, and Lautaro Martinez. But Dybala never preferred ahead of them for starting eleven.
Alvaro Morata joined Juventus on loan from Atletico Madrid in the summer transfer window. Atletico Madrid has been looking to sign Dybala next season with a cash plus Morata deal. Real Madrid are also keeping tabs on a world-class forward. They are looking to sign a new forward next season to replace age declining Karim Benzema. Kylian Mbappe and Erling Haaland are also on their list alongside Paulo Dybala.
Chelsea and Manchester United on alert over Juventus’ stance on Paulo Dybala
Chelsea recently spent more than £200 million in the summer transfer window. Manager Frank Lampard spent around £50 million on star forward Timo Werner. Tammy Abraham is also available at Stamford Bridge as a rotation option to Werner.
Oliver Giroud is expected to leave Chelsea in the January transfer window. But signing a big-name player like Dybala as a replacement does not make sense. Spending millions on a new forward seems unlikely for the Blues in the next two transfer windows.
Manchester United are a big admirer of Dybala for the last 2 seasons. They have linked with potential moves for Dybala in almost every transfer window. Red Devils fans are growing frustrated over current forward Anthony Martial at Old Trafford. Edison Cavani was signed on a free transfer in the summer transfer window. But manager Ole Solskjaer decided to go with Martial upfront and Marcus Rashford on the left side of the attack.
Paulo Dybala has played on the right side of the attack many times for Juventus and can do the same at Old Trafford. Mason Greenwood, Daniel James, and Juan Mata are currently rotating on right-wing this season.
