Sunrisers Hyderabad had a pretty decent season in the 2020 edition of the Indian Premier League. They finished third in the points table and went a step ahead by knocking Royal Challengers Bangalore in the Eliminator.
However, they couldn’t replicate their success formula in the ongoing edition of the IPL. They kick-started their campaign with a hat-trick of defeats.
Sunrisers lost to Kolkata Knight Riders, Royal Challengers Bangalore and Mumbai Indians. However, they ended their three-match losing streak by beating Punjab Kings in their fourth game.
While, SRH were expected to gain momentum after the win, they lost to Delhi Capitals in the Super Over. Now, they are playing against Chennai Super Kings at Arun Jaitley Stadium in New Delhi.
SRH captain David Warner won the toss and opted to bat first. The Sunrisers started the game at a slow pace and lost Jonny Bairstow in the 4th over. Warner and Manish Pandey added a 106-run stand for the second wicket.
Both of them scored a half-century apiece. Manish Pandey top-scored with 61 off 46 balls with the help of 5 fours and a six at a strike rate of 132.61. SRH posted 171/3 in 20 overs.
David Warner shouts angrily after a big miss
Meanwhile, David Warner struggled to score runs quickly for his side. He couldn’t switch gears when it mattered the most. However, he ended up scoring 57 off 55 balls including 3 fours and 2 sixes.
He maintained a strike rate of just 103.64, which is perhaps the boring innings of Warner’s career. During the third ball of the 15th over, Warner tried to hit a shot off Lungi Ngidi’s bowling. But he swung his bat and missed it. Soon after that, he shouted angrily for not connecting the ball.
