He was the leading run-scorer of CSK in the last season at the United Arab Emirates. The former South Africa captain essayed 449 runs at an average of 40.81 including 4 half-centuries.
The 36-year-old veteran cricketer has continued his rich vein of form in the ongoing season of the Indian Premier League. The South African international is also the top run-getter of CSK so far.
Having played 4 games, the right-handed batsman aggregated as many as 164 runs at an outstanding batting average of 82. He also maintained an impressive strike rate of 145.13.
Faf du Plessis played the fluent innings in the recently-concluded game against Kolkata Knight Riders in Mumbai. The right-hander top-scored with a massive 95 off 60 balls. The South African dominated the bowling attack with ease. He hit as many as 9 fours and 4 sixes at a strike rate of 158.33.
As a result, the Super Kings managed to score 220/3 in 20 overs. CSK restricted KKR to 202 and won the game by 18 runs. Pat Cummins top-scored with an unbeaten 66 off 34 balls (4 fours, 6 sixes). Faf du Plessis was named the Man of the Match.

Sledging has become quite common these days especially in the Indian Premier League. Recently, KKR pacer Prasidh Krishna tried to mess with CSK opener Faf du Plessis. The incident happened during the 4th ball of the 16 over when Prasidh bowled a misdirected full-toss ball.
Meanwhile, Faf du Plessis tried to connect the ball but ended up missing the ball completely. In the mean time, Prasidh Krishna tried to sledge the former Proteas captain. However, Faf du Plessis taught him an unforgettable lesson by hitting a boundary in the very next ball.
