Cristiano Ronaldo opting to leave Real Madrid is something nobody could have seen coming, and in the search for his replacement, the La Liga giants have hit a roadblock for two superstars.

Real Madrid have been searching high and wide for their next Galactico, but never would they have imagined that they would have to replace Cristiano Ronaldo. But that’s exactly what has happened and the 33-year-old leaving for Juventus left the Los Blancos reeling, with Julen Lopetegui opting instead not to sign a world class superstar.

Instead, the former La Furia Roja boss has left the job of doing the impossible to the likes of Gareth Bale, Karim Benzema and even Marco Asensio. And so far the plan has worked well, with Real Madrid unbeaten in the La Liga but despite all that the rumours for the world’s best still, haven’t stopped. The likes of Kylian Mbappe, Neymar, Eden Hazard, Harry Kane, Mohammed Salah and so many others have all been touted with potential moves to the Bernabeu.

However, nothing has materialised but it seems that the rumours have hit PSG president Nasser Al-Khelaifi, and he is certainly not impressed. Both Kylian Mbappe and Neymar have been permanently linked with a move to Real Madrid, especially the Brazilian star with Florentino Perez reportedly obsessed with signing Neymar. While the French wunder-kid has recently popped up on the radar, its the former Barcelona star many want to see at the Bernabeu.

But Nasser Al Khelaifi has gone on to say “It’s a bit frustrating if we’re being realistic because it’s not fair for other clubs or anyone to speak with our players. We don’t like it at all and we spoke about it with Real Madrid at one moment. We have a good relationship with them and they respect PSG, and I hope that this is true.

“We respect Real Madrid and their president Florentino Perez. I think it’s important for everyone that we don’t work behind the scenes. If there is something there then it’s better that we speak, whether that’s speaking with Florentino Perez or whoever and then saying what we like and what we don’t like. That’s what we expect of all clubs, not only Real Madrid.”

The PSG president also went on to talk about how nobody will be leaving in the near future, especially both Mbappe and Neymar, as the Parisians have a long-term project in the works, and both the forwards are key to the plan. “Mbappe is already one of the best players in the world. As is Neymar. To be honest, I see them as the best two players in the world.

Of course, we have the best forwards. There’s also [Edinson] Cavani and [Angel] Di Maria and it’s a matter of pride,” added El Khelaifi. The good thing is that this allows you to think in a long-term project. We’ll go out to try to win each title and we’ll fight because we are obligated to.”

Author’s take:

It looks like the PSG president has called out Florentino Perez amid what feels like a never-ending transfer saga. However, in the end there seems to be an inevitable end, but what will the consequences to that be, that’s something we need to wait and watch out for.
