Thomas Tuchel’s Chelsea are set to break the bank for another summer transfer showdown this summer. After the reputation of Champions of Europe last year, the Blues are on the domestic mission next season.
According to the reports from London, Atletico Madrid midfielder Saul Niguez has been a keen interest for Stamford Bridge for the summer. The Spanish midfielder is likely to move out of Wanda Metropolitano as per the reports from Spain.
Rumors were suggesting the possible exit of Saul despite his long Atletico contract. The 26-year-old is committed to Los Rojiblancos till the summer of 2026. He has been a pivot in the midfield of Simeone for years. He made 337 appearances for the club.
Although, last season’s performance was not that great for the player. The central midfielder made 30 starts out of 41 last season which is not enough for his reputation.
Even though the team won the domestic title in Spain, Saul was not accredited as he did in the past. Along with that, the Argentine boss got alternate plans for next season.
The alternate option that facilitates the Chelsea deal
According to Football London, Atletico Madrid are edging close to Udinese midfielder Rodrigo de Paul. The Argentine midfielder is expected to join Atletico this summer. That will add a boost to transfer talks in West London.
Meanwhile, dispatching Saul from the Spanish capital won’t be an easy task for Thomas Tuchel. As per the updates from Fabrizio Romano, the Rodrigo deal is almost done in Madrid. Accommodating both Rodrigo and Saul in the midfield is hard to digest.
Also, the dominant figures like Koke, Geoffrey Kondogbia, Hector Herrera, and Marcos Llorente add more options for Simeone for next season. Even though, the intention of management is still vague in the case of Saul.
Meanwhile, Stamford Bridge is adding more experience to the midfield. The guidance of Kante in the center circle needs support from experienced legs. The Italian midfielder Jorginho is a possible option to leave the camp as per transfer rumors.
The expectations from The Blues:
The summer transfer window adds more tallies to Chelsea as they target multiple top picks of the window. Thomas Tuchel’s squad is congested with talents and all he needs to do is ensure playing time for the players.
Also, there are some exits predicting from the Blues this summer. Hakim Ziyech and Emerson Palmieri are two of the players already in the discussions. Tuchel has to make a decision on the loanees from Stamford Bridge this summer along with that. AC Milan are another major transfer partner of Chelsea for that.
The talks on Saul are still under observation. Chelsea are closing on to the player and if the transfer plans of Simeone works in Madrid, Saul will set his play in the toughest competition of England next season. He can take part in the strategic proposals of Tuchel in the midfield and can pair up with Kante to produce the creative developments with the ball.
