Crystal Palace winger Wilfried Zaha has been tipped to leave Selhurst Part and Tottenham Hotspur expected to sign him in this transfer window.
According to former Crystal Palace chairman Simon Jordan, Crystal Palace are looking to sell their star forward in this transfer window. He also believes that Tottenham Hotspur will be the perfect destination for Wilfried Zaha.
Spurs rival Arsenal tried to sign the 27-year-old attacker last season but failed to match his asking price of £80m. Crystal Palace boss refused to sell Zaha below that price and that was enough to wary off interest from big clubs.
Arsenal then went on to sign winger Nicolas Pepe for a club-record fee of £84m. New Everton manager Carlo Ancelotti is also strongly linked with Zaha in this transfer window.
What it will cost Spurs to sign Wilfried Zaha from Crystal Palace?
Wilfried Zaha was not up to the expectations last season where he scored only 4 goals and provided 3 assists. He is still one of the best players for Roy Hodgson’s side, who values him £80m when Arsenal showed interest last season.
The former Chairman also agreed that now he is not the same player he used to be. Crystal Palace will not be asking a higher than value fee for Ivory Coast International in this transfer window.
According to some reports, it is believed that Zaha’s asking price is now £30m and Crystal Palace are okay with that. Wilfried Zaha still has three years left on his contract so it will be a tough decision for the club to let him go.
“Some of the output he has given for Palace this season would not necessarily demand the same figure. If you could get £60m last year, you’re going to really struggle to get that now. His form hasn’t been what it was. – Former Crystal Palace chairman Simon Jordan
But their manager Roy Hodgson is already looking for Zaha’s replacement in this transfer window. Sassuolo winger Jeremie Boga will be a key target for Crystal Palace to replace their key player Zaha.
Tottenham Hotspur looking to sign a new winger in this transfer window:
Wilfried Zaha to Tottenham Hotspurs will be a perfect fit for both clubs and players, according to Jordan. Zaha has proven himself that he is a top fight player and now ready to play with the best players in the English Premier League.
“He does want to go but I’m not entirely sure there’s a queue of clubs that will buy him. I think, as much as it galls me, Tottenham is a place that would do Wilfried well.” – Simon Jordan on Zaha and Tottenham Hotspur
According to Sky Sports reporter Fabrizio Romano, Spurs are looking for a new winger and forward this summer. Currently, there are many options for Jose Mourinho’s side on the wide side of the attack.
Last season Lucas Moura and Erik Lamela were constant on the right side of the attack. On the left side Son Heung Min and Steven Bergwijn were deployed to support striker Harry Kane. But this selection tactic did not work for Jose Mourinho, they failed to qualify for UCL, finishing in sixth place. Zaha can offer a great threat down the left side of the attack and will be the perfect choice on both attack and wing.
