Tottenham Hotspur on the lookout for Jose Mourinho replacement

TMT

Tottenham Hotspur are not wasting time following the sack of Jose Mourinho. The north London side are already on the hunt for an ideal replacement. The Portuguese was unable to complete his 4-year contract with Tottenham. And has got the sack after just 17 months into his contract.

The Portuguese was unable to find a rhythm at Spurs despite making a steady start. Mourinho was able to place them at the top of the table around halfway into the campaign. However, Jose was unable to keep things smooth and went on to lose points in quick succession.

Tottenham are now looking to find replacements for the vacant job. Reports claim that Tottenham are keen to bring in Julian Nagelsmann. The RB Leipzig manager has proven his capabilities in recent years. And Tottenham believe that a manager with a modern approach will help win them some trophies.

In the meantime, Ryan Mason will take over as interim head coach. Mason will carry out the duties of head coach until the end of the season, via Goal. Also, Chris Powell and Nigel Gibbs will take the role of interim assistant head coaches. Michel Vorm will be the interim goalkeeping coach with Ledley King continuing as the first-team assistant.

Tottenham considering options:

Jose Mourinho was brought in to end Tottenham’s long trophy drought. However, the Portuguese was unable to win the confidence of the higher-ups resulting in a sack. Jose may have had a chance to win a silverware on Sunday. As Tottenham will face Manchester City in the Carabao Cup finals. However, that is now up to Ryan Mason who is the new interim head coach.

Mason will get the chance to think through his tactics ahead of the final. As Tottenham clash against Southampton next in a Premier League fixture. Mason will try to utilise the game to study how he must line his squad. Meanwhile, the Tottenham hierarchy is looking for replacements for Mourinho.

Although reports claim that Julian Nagelsmann is a favourite. The north London side is also eyeing other options including Maurizio Sarri. The Italian manager has been out of work for a while now following his sacking from Juventus. Sarri has enough Premier League experience managing Chelsea in the past. Hence, Sarri is also a frontrunner for the manager role at Spurs.

Leicester City manager Brendan Rodgers and Everton manager Carlos Ancelotti are also on their wishlist. The duo are doing pretty well in their respective clubs. The chances of the duo accepting a job at Spurs may be low. Also, Tottenham are reportedly keen to bring in a manager with a fresh mindset. That may put Nagelsmann above the rest of the candidates.

Nagelsmann to the rescue?

In comparison to Jose Mourinho, Julian Nagelsmann doesn’t have many trophies to boast about. In fact, he only has won a U19 title for Hoffenheim earning the nickname ‘mini Mourinho’. However, despite his lack of trophies, the 33-year-old has a modern style of coaching. And has been great at tactically improving his side gameplay.

Nagelsmann also has an impressive 59.09% win percentage at RB Leipzig. Thanks to Julian, Leipzig are now considered a club that rivals Bayern Munich. He was also able to make some impressive performances in the Champions League. All of these factors are attracting Tottenham to lure him into Spurs.

The German manager has a contract that runs till 2023 with Leipzig now. However, he may consider offers that catch his eye. Bayern Munich are also keen to pen down a deal with Nagelsmann. As Hansi Flick is likely to make an exit soon from the Bavarian side. However, reports suggest that Nagelsmann has an interest to coach in the Premier League.

Tottenham will try to sign Julian Nagelsmann ahead of the next campaign. In the meantime, Ryan Mason will try to get some positive results in the upcoming fixtures. Spurs have not been in great form for a while now and fans are uneasy. The Tottenham hierarchy is desperate to find some improvements in the situation. Spurs are hoping to come back stronger next season.
