Tottenham preparing a €50 million bid Manchester United ace

Spurs could be in for a huge summer as Mauricio Pochettino’s identifies Anthony Martial as his top target

The Frenchman’s frustrations at Old Trafford are hidden from none. Since joining from Monaco in 2015 in a then world record fee paid for a teenager, he has blown hot and cold. His debut campaign saw him labelled as the next Thierry Henry. However, subsequent seasons under Jose Mourinho haven’t been as prolific. Despite commanding healthy goal involvement stats, he has been limited to just 18 starts this season in the Premier League. Unsurprisingly, rumours linking him to the exit door have cropped up since the end of last campaign.

Juventus were supposed to be the frontrunners for his signature as they see him as an able replacement for the outgoing Gonzalo Higuain. However, they continue to monitor the situation of their former star and current Chelsea No. 9 Alvaro Morata and this has reportedly led to Tottenham stealing a march on the Italian giants.

Martial is Pochettino’s priority for this transfer window

Premium Sport HD is reporting that Spurs have taken over Juventus with Pochettino identifying Martial as his top summer target. This report is backed up by Daily Mail who, a few days ago, reported that the Argentine is desperate to acquire Martial’s services.

Pochettino recently signed a mega-money deal with Tottenham that tied to him to the North London till 2023 while he has also been handed a considerable transfer kitty.

Author’s Take

Tottenham are a much juicier prospect then they were in the years gone by. Pochettino’s arrival and the subsequent transformation of the squad has developed the Lilywhites into a top 4 contender. Martial, meanwhile, has been in patchy form over the past two seasons. While some have attributed it to his relationship with Mourinho other have sighted his defensive contribution and attitude as a possible reason. Whatever the case, a move to Tottenham would be brilliant for the Frenchman. The only thing is whether Mourinho would be willing to let go of such a talent.
