With less than 1 week left for the UEFA Euros 2020 to commence, we have compiled a list of the top 10 midfielders playing this tournament. This list will feature a variety of midfielders whose best qualities just aren’t their scoring prowess.

It was a difficult task to choose a top 10 from the numerous teams which have a plethora of world-class midfielders at their disposal. At the top of the list we have Manchester City star Kevin De Bruyne, closely followed by Chelsea’s Ngolo Kante and Joshua Kimmich from Bayern Munich.

Here’s the top 10 list, we have prepared at the Twelfth Man after thorough research and analysis.

10. Mason Mount ( Chelsea, England)

Mason mount is at 10th in the top 10 midfielders list

The Chelsea star has been consistently brilliant with club and country this season. Though only 24, Mount has been Chelsea’s best player this season. He is Southgate’s favorite, having already made 16 appearances for his National team.

He won the Champions League this season with Chelsea, he provided the assist for Kai Havertz’s winning goal in the final. Mount is phenomenal with the ball and he has a bright future ahead.

9. Frenkie De Jong ( FC Barcelona, Netherlands)

He was a part of the Ajax squad that made it to the UCL semifinals in 2018/2019. Since then after his dream move to FC Barcelona, he has put in some brilliant performances for the Catalans.

For the Netherlands, his role will be to play as a ball-playing defensive midfielder, where he can showcase his passing range and ability to bring the ball out of defense.

8. Toni Kroos ( Real Madrid, Germany)

The German has been incredible at Real Madrid since joining and helped them finish 2nd in the league this season. Kroos is also known as Garçom (“waiter” in Portuguese) for his passing accuracy. He was a part of the German squad that won the World Cup in 2014. With the Die Mannschaft set to face Portugal and France, they will look to Kroos’ experience and leadership to help them overcome the dangerous group of death.

7. Nicolo Barella ( Inter Milan, Italy)

Only 24, the Italian has been one of Italy’s best midfielders since joining Inter Milan in 2019. He was one of the Nerazzurri’s most important players in their Serie A triumph. Barella also won the best midfielder of the season award for exceptional performance in the league. Barella has proven to be a big game player and will feature prominently at Euros 2020.
