Chelsea were handed a shocking defeat in the return fixture after the international break at Stamford Bridge. The defeat has put many players at risk and the French defender, Kurt Zouma could be one of them who could be sold by Thomas Tuchel.
Kurt Zouma joined the Blues in 2014 from Saint Etienne for £12 million. He joined his old club on loan that season itself but became an important member of the squad from the next season onwards.
He gave a disciplined performance in his debut season and won the Premier League and the Football League Cup that season. Zouma was likened to many great players and was a promising player. He was given a much superior role since then.
But in his 3rd year with the club, he endured a ligament injury and was out for 6 months. After his return, he was again sent on loan spells with Stoke City and Everton. The expiry of the loan deal saw him regain his spot in the squad with Frank Lampard at the helm. He was appreciated by the ex-Chelsea player, who appreciated him and trusted him a lot.
Chelsea have been dealt with a huge blow after losing their fixture against West Brom. They still grasp the 4th spot in the League table. However, it is going to be a tight run for the spot from now on. They had the chance to go 5 points safe but are now in a 5-way battle for the Champions League spot.
Tottenham Hotspur should have climbed ahead, but they bottled their lead and were able to grab only 1 point against Newcastle United. West Ham and Everton have a game tomorrow, which if a win from both sides could result in Chelsea dropping out of the top-4.
Thomas Tuchel disappointed with Chelsea loss might axe Kurt Zouma:
Chelsea were completely clueless in the match against West Brom as they lost their first fixture under Thomas Tuchel. And it was a heavy one. After going down to 10-men after the half-an-hour mark, The Baggies dominated the game comfortably and one would never guess that the team is going to be relegated once the season is over. West Brom are the bottom second in the League with 10 points gap from safety.
Christian Pulisic gave his team the lead but Jorginho made multiple mistakes out of which, 2 of them resulted in Thiago Silva being sent off. After that, the game took a massive turn. Matheus Pereira scored twice in the stoppage time of the first half and gave West Brom the lead.
Another double from Callum Robinson and a goal Mbaye Diagne made the night even worse for the Blues. The visitors won the match, 5-2, handing Tuchel his first and the heaviest defeat. The defeat is one thing, but the defensive display by Chelsea was more horrendous.
The players were awful, and one of them was Kurt Zouma. The 27-year-old defender who was a regular under Frank was out of favour under Tuchel. He had to perform greatly to get back his position from Rudiger and Christensen. Unfortunately, he has just piled more misery on himself.
His current form has made it more difficult to stay at the club. After falling out of the playing XI and putting a disappointing display yesterday, Thomas Tuchel might consider selling him.
Selling him will also generate a decent amount too. The defender is valued at £29 million and there are plenty of teams that would want him.
