Rajasthan Royals might not have started their campaign with a win but they showed some positive signs. Sanju Samson has led the team ever so well that has players with a blend of youth and experience.
The Royals batted so well in the first match against Punjab Kings in the run-chase. They almost sealed a run-chase but fell short of 4 runs in a high-scoring encounter. Sanju Samson won hearts with a spectacular hundred.
The inaugural IPL champions took their second game very serious and acted on it to better effect. They ripped through the defence of Delhi Capitals’ batting line-up. As a result, they were able to keep them in check.
Barring Rishabh Pant no other batsman turned up the heat in the first match. Delhi Capitals captain brought up a superb half-century but was dismissed by Riyan Parag in the form of a run-out.
Delhi Capitals managed to score 147/8 in their allotted quota of 20 overs. In reply, DC bowlers made life tough for RR batsmen as they easily wiped out half of their batting line-up inside 10 overs. When the Royals were reeling at 42/5, David Miller provided a ray of hope with a blistering 62 off 43 balls.
He smashed 7 fours and 2 sixes at a strike rate of 144.19. After his departure, Chris Morris justified his price tag by scoring 36 off 18 balls including 4 sixes at a strike rate of 200. The IPL’s most expensive signing steered the side to victory. The Royals won the game by 3 wickets.
Tewatia involves in friendly banter with his teammate Anuj
Ahead of the match against Delhi Capitals, the RR franchise posted an interesting video clip. The short clip features the entire Royals’ squad relishing their team welcome dinner. Meanwhile, RR all-rounder Rahul Tewatia and Anuj Rawat hogged the limelight with funny banter.
Anuj who plies his trade Delhi in domestic cricket introduced left-arm pacer Kuldip Yadav to the rest of the Royals squad. The wicketkeeper batsman said, “I am extremely delighted to welcome my Delhi teammate Kuldip Yadav to the Rajasthan Royals family.
Watch the video below:
Kuldip is definitely gonna make everyone’s head spin this year. As much as I know Kuldip, he’s a bit shy guy.” Anuj then called Kuldip Yadav to the front to introduce himself to everyone.
It was at this time Rahul Tewatia said: “Bro, bulara hai ya dhamkara hai (Bro, are you calling or threatening him?)”. Tewatia’s cheeky comment triggered a heck of laughter from the other players.
Jaydev Unadkat – Player of the Match
Rajasthan Royals’ pacer Jaydev Unadkat was the pick of the bowlers for the Royals in the game against Delhi Capitals. The left-arm pacer took 3 wickets to his name.
Unadkat who had the worst season in the 2020 edition ensured to make his presence count on the pitch this time. He conceded just 15 runs in his quota of 4 overs maintaining an economy rate of 3.80.
