Shubman Gill is one of the best young batsmen in the world right now. The right-handed batsman showcased his batting potential when he donned the Indian jersey during the team’s tour of Australia.

The young cricketer drew attention after he made his Test debut against Australia. Gill scored an impeccable 91 in the series decider at The Gabba. His marvelous score came at the top during India’s run-chase of 328 at Australia’s fortress.

His candid knock helped India seal a victory against Australia Down Under. Rishabh Pant who scored a scintillating 87* in the run-chase hit the winning runs in the form of a boundary.

India won the series decider by 3 wickets and retained the Border Gavaskar Trophy. Thus India became the first team to beat Australia at The Gabba after 32 years.

This was also India’s second consecutive Test series victory in Australia. Meanwhile, the youngster Shubman Gill received a tremendous amount of applause from every nook and corner of the cricket fraternity.

Currently, Gill is plying his trade for two-time IPL champions, Kolkata Knight Riders in the ongoing season of the IPL. The 21-year-old youngster scored 440 runs in 14 games for KKR in the last season at the United Arab Emirates.

Meanwhile, Shubman Gill was asked to pick the best batting partner between legendary Sachin Tendulkar and current best batsman Virat Kohli. The youngster came up with an interesting answer.

Shubman Gill picked India’s batting maestro Sachin Tendulkar with whom he would now love to bat. Sachin Tendulkar was the best player across formats in his heydays. He is the only cricketer with 100 international centuries.

Sachin represented Team India in 200 Tests, 463 ODIs, and 1 T20I. The legend scored 15921 runs in the longest format of the game including 68 fifties and 51 centuries and 6 double centuries.

As far as ODIs are concerned, Sachin scored 18426 runs including 96 fifties and 49 centuries, and 1 double century. On the other hand, Virat Kohli is dominating the modern era with incredible consistency.

Kohli is the best batsman across formats. Currently, he is the only batsman who has maintained a batting average in excess of 50 across formats. Kohli has plenty of years and time left to break Sachin’s records in the future.

Shubman Gill yet to fire for KKR this season

Meanwhile, Shubman Gill is yet to fire for Kolkata Knight Riders this season. The young KKR opener played 4 games wherein he managed to score just 69 runs so far. He will be looking forward to turning things around in the games to come.
