Real Madrid left-back Marcelo has stated that Cristiano Ronaldo does not have any power over signing players after the club has been linked with recruiting Neymar.
There has been a lot of transfer speculation regarding Neymar over the past few months with Madrid being the next possible destination for the Brazilian. The 26-year-old winger has been finding the Ligue 1 too comfortable with Paris Saint Germain and wants reportedly wants a new challenge away from the French champions.
However, one major issue that was surrounded by Neymar joining the Los Blancos this summer was the potential of Cristiano Ronaldo not wanting to play alongside the Brazilian. But one of the Portuguese star’s closest friends Marcelo made sure that there would be no animosity between the pair if Neymar joined Real Madrid.
Marcelo On The Possibility Of Neymar Joining Real Madrid-
Speaking to the press ahead of Brazil’s World Cup campaign Marcelo was asked whether club mate Ronaldo would have a problem if his national teammate Neymar signed for the club the left-back responded that he would not rule out Neymar joining Madrid,” Cristiano doesn’t own Real Madrid so if the president wants to sign somebody he will do it. If Cristiano stays, does that mean that Neymar can’t come?
We all want Ronaldo to stay and Neymar has our doors wide open, Madrid always have to find the best players and I think Neymar will play for Real Madrid one day,”
Marcelo went on to explain whether Neymar could be Ronaldo’s successor at the Santiago Bernabeu, “I’ve yet to understand how the Ballon d’Or works. I just don’t know if you get it because of the titles you’ve won, the season you’ve completed or just how good you are as a player. It’s up to those voting. To me, Ronaldo is the world’s greatest right now and I have no doubt in my mind that Neymar will be just as good,”
I don’t think that Neymar would move to Real Madrid anytime soon because of his past connection with Barcelona. However, stranger things have happened in the past, therefore, we cannot completely rule out this possibility in the future.
