Sri Lankan national cricket team literally blew the Indian team to smithereens in the third and final T20I in Colombo. Nobody saw this coming but the Lankans just believed in themselves and they did it in a convincing way.
Earlier, Team India took the first lead in the T20I series by winning the opener by 38 runs. However, the hosts made a stellar comeback in the second T20I and won the game by 4 wickets to level the series.
Their memorable victory set up a perfect climax for the series decider. Team India won the toss and elected to bat first. Meanwhile, the Lankans stunned the Indian batting unit by taking wickets at regular intervals.
No Indian batsman showed any intent with the bat as they fell prey to Sri Lankan bowlers. Ruturaj Gaikwad scored 14 off 10 balls including 2 fours at the top. Before his departure, as many as 3 wickets fell in quick intervals.
Bhuvneshwar Kumar scored 16 runs while Kuldeep Yadav scored 23 runs. These two players added some flesh to the scoreboard else India would have registered their lowest total in T20Is.
Wanindu Hasaranga totally cleaned up the Indian batting unit by picking up 4 wickets. In the end, the Men in Blue managed to score 81/8 in their allotted quota of 20 overs. This is India’s third lowest total in T20Is.

Indian captain Shikhar Dhawan made the headlines after he was spotted conveying some useful tips to the Sri Lankan players. The video of Dhawan sharing his experience with the opposition players after the third T20I went viral on social media.
Even the commentators appreciated the veteran cricketer for his nice gesture towards the Lankans. Dhawan, at the post-match presentation, was asked about his conversation with the Lankan players.

Sri Lanka win the T20I series by 2-1
Although Indian players tried their best to mount pressure on Sri Lanka, the hosts held their nerves and chased down the target. Sri Lanka won the game by 7 wickets. As a result, they won the series by 2-1. Rahul Chahar was the pick of the bowlers for Team India as he took 3 wickets.
Avishka Fernando and Minod Bhanuka scored 12 and 18 runs respectively. Rahul Chahar dismissed the Lankan opening pair followed by Sadeera Samarawickrama. Dhananjaya de Silva who top-scored with 40 in the second T20I once again top-scored with 23 off 20 balls.
Meanwhile, Wanindu Hasaranga also scored 14 off 9 balls including a four. Sri Lanka aced the run-chase in 14.3 overs. Hasaranga was named the Player of the Match. He was also named the Player of the Series. Overall, Hasaranga was the standout performer of the T20I series.
