Serie A star and long-term Arsenal target’s agent has confirmed that the starlet is definitely interested in a move to the Emirates
The 22-year-old starlet has seen his stock in the footballing world rise slowly and now it looks like the European biggies are after him. However, despite that, the Udinese star has not allowed the rumors to play with his performance and has been one of the Serie A side’s standout players this season. With 28 appearances to his name, Jakub Jankto has been in fine form for Udinese scoring five goals and assisting a further 6, which is why Premier League giants Arsenal have targetted him.
But now with both Arsenal and Serie A giants AC Milan seriously pursuing his signature, this could be his last season for the Bianconeri Friuliani. While Premier League side Everton including Arsenal and AC Milan were interested in a move during the January window, nothing materialized as the Czech Republic star had decided to stay at the club.
However, now with both AC Milan and Arsenal stepping up their pursuit for Jankto, his agent/representative Guiseppe Riso has admitted that both he and the 22-year-old midfielder will sit down and hold talks with both clubs if an offer is made. “They’re eligible teams,” Riso said in an interview. “Jankto is an important profile, we decided with the Pozzos not to talk about it in January to let him grow and mature. Milan and Arsenal are attentive to youngsters, we’ll definitely talk with them.”
For Arsenal, Jakub Jankto would mean a potential long-term replacement for veteran Santi Carzola who is currently out with a recurring ankle problem. The Spaniard, when fit is easily among the Arsenal’s best players, which he hasn’t been since October of 2016. However, while Arsene Wenger does have Granit Xhaka to call upon, the Swiss international hasn’t been able to replace Carzola as the midfield pivot.
But according to reports from Calciomercato, Arsenal will have to pay approximately 30 million for the Czech Republic international. The Gunners have also been linked with a move for Napoli’s Piotr Zielinski, with the Polish international also playing very well for Maurizio Sarri.
Jakub Jankto has the potential to easily become one of the stars of the future but despite that the 22-year-old needs time to mature and improve even future. However, signing for a club that does put its emphasis on youth like Arsenal and even AC Milan does give the Udinese midfielder a chance to improve even future.
