Real Madrid have been linked with a move for several players this summer. However, there is one player who himself is desperate to play for the European champions. Have a look at what’s cooking below!
Real Madrid have been subpar with their attempts in the La Liga and Copa del Rey last year. However, Los Blancos did manage to grab a piece of silverware at the end of the season when they won the UEFA Champions League for a third successive year. The Whites know that their domestic displays were still embarrassing. They finished miles behind first placed Barcelona and were humbled by Leganes in the Copa del Rey.
An overhaul is necessary in Spain’s capital. The Whites were also forced to separate ways with Cristiano Ronaldo and hence, need a big signing to keep their dominance across world football going. The likes of Eden Hazard, Neymar and Mbappe have been linked with a move to the La Liga giants. However, no concrete agreement has been reached for Hazard. Neymar and Mbappe are set to stay in Paris.
There is a starlet from the Serie A who has the attention of several top clubs across Europe. His name is Sergej Milinkovic-Savic. The Serbian is one of the world’s hottest prospects in the centre of the park and ran the engine for Rome’s Lazio last season. He was one of their most important players. He provided eight assists in addition to his fourteen goals across all competitions. The young midfielder is now keen on a move to the Santiago Bernabeu.
The 23 year old is widely considered the successor to the likes of Andres Iniesta and Luka Modric. His signing by Madrid could have ensured that Europe’s elite club has a replacement for the ageing Luka Modric. The Croatian has also been linked with a move to Inter Milan in recent weeks.

Lazio finished fifth, narrowly behind Inter Milan in the Serie A and missed out on a Champions League spot for 2018/19. Milinkovic wants to participate in the Champions League and feels that no other destination is better for him than Madrid. Lazio are reluctant in selling their star man this summer, but have reportedly slapped a price tag of 100 million euros on to him.
While I don’t take anything away from the 23 year old, he has only proven himself for one season. Also, with players like Dani Ceballos and Mateo Kovacic who are already gunning for a starting spot, Milinkovic-Savic’s playtime could be significantly reduced. While he should move to Madrid at some part of his career, now is too early.
