Mauro Icardi has been grabbing headlines this season but now Inter Milan have admitted that they cannot keep hold of him if big clubs come calling.
The 25-year-old Nerazzurri striker’s 29 goals this season for Inter Milan this season have almost single-handedly carried the club to the Champions League for next season. The club captain and one of their best players, Mauro Icardi will be one of the prime targets for top clubs in the summer transfer window. Especially if they want to bolster their attack force even though the Nerazzurri will try their best efforts to keep hold of him at the San Siro.
La Liga giants Real Madrid and Ligue 1 champions Paris Saint Germain have both been keeping tabs on the Argentine international and most recently Manchester United have also joined the race to sign Icardi. And the news gets interesting as Inter manager Luciano Spalletti has informed us that they will be tempted to sell their valuable captain if a big money offer comes in.
Spalletti On Icardi Situation-
Speaking to Sky Sports Italia, the 59-year-old Italian said that he has spoken to Icardi and the player is happy but the club has to expect anything in the coming transfer window, “I’ve spoken with Mauro several times and he sent very precise signals. He’s happy at Inter and wants to stay. But then there are clubs which, if they decide to take a player, you could have been saying I won’t leave here the day before, then the next day they take you and in the end you’re happy to go, even though the previous day you were thinking very differently. We have to be ready for anything, but for now, there are no signals and no doubts about what he wants.”
The 25-year-old center-forward has a release clause of €110 million on his contract and Inter may be tempted to activate it this summer to allow Icardi to leave.
I think if Inter Milan loose Icardi in this summer transfer window it will be too big a blow for them. But the club needs to move forward and they could use that transfer fee wisely to purchase a few top quality players who could strengthen Inter even more.
