The 22nd match between Delhi Capitals and Royal Challengers Bangalore had all the spice to keep the audience at the edge of their seats.
The cricket fraternity witnessed one of the best nail-biters in the ongoing edition of the Indian Premier League. Both teams locked horns with each other in an attempt to come out on top.
However, in the end, it just had to be one team. Both teams deserved to win a game given the way they went about their business. Delhi Capitals had the chance to seal a win.
Delhi Capitals required 14 runs to win off the last over. In fact, it was easily achievable when the likes of Shimron Hetmyer and Rishabh Pant were at the crease.
Both the batsmen scored a half-century and were already well set at the crease. However, Royal Challengers Bangalore pulled off the ropes from jaws of defeat, courtesy of Mohammed Siraj’s brilliant last over.
AB de Villiers helped RCB post 171/5 in 20 overs. The former Proteas player was named the man of the match for his terrific 75* off 42 balls. He smashed 3 fours and 5 sixes, striking the balls in excess of 178.
Virender Sehwag not impressed with Rishabh Pant captaincy
Meanwhile, the former Indian cricketer Virender Sehwag launched a scathing attack on Rishabh Pant’s captaincy. The Nawab of Najafgarh asked Rishabh Pant to play smartly and use the bowling resources according to the situation. During the 20th over of RCB’s innings, Marcus Stoinis leaked 23 runs whereas Amit Mishra didn’t finish his quota of 4 overs.
Sehwag further added saying that he won’t give him even 5 marks out of 10 for his captaincy. “I won’t give him even five marks out of 10 for his captaincy because you just can’t make such mistakes. If your main bowler isn’t bowling, your calculations go wrong – that’s what captaincy is all about. You need to take care of that. A captain must manage his bowling resources according to the situation,” Sehwag said.
