Erling Haaland’s pursuit not feasible for Roman Abramovich as Chelsea look at the alternatives.
Chelsea are still experimenting with their number 9 spot. Thomas Tuchel hasn’t found anyone consistent enough in the Chelsea squad. It seems like a new striker will be on the club’s agenda in the next window.
Chelsea had a big summer window last season where the club went on a $300 million spending spree. However, there hasn’t been any substantial return on Blue’s investment. Some of their star signings have really struggled this season.
Timo Werner and Kai Havertz are both going through a rough patch this season. Tammy Abraham to looks likely to leave the club as he isn’t getting nearly enough game time under the new manager.
Werner’s performances have left him scrapping for places and it’s likely the Blues will go for a new number 9. Erling Haaland is a very good option for the club but his transfer value will be a cause of concern for Chelsea.
Dortmund has set Haaland’s price tag at 180 million Euros which frankly speaking is too much even for the likes of Roman Abramovich. But the club has another player in their sights.
Romelu Lukaku from Inter Milan is the number 2 option for Chelsea boss Roman Abramovich. Lukaku has been in great form for Inter Milan this season and Chelsea are interested in a reunion.
Inter Milan’s Romelu Lukaku a transfer target for Chelsea
Romelu Lukaku was once a part of Chelsea’s ranks in his younger days. However, it didn’t quite work out for him at Stamford Bridge. The striker finally went on to Inter Milan after runs with Everton and Manchester United.
Since joining Inter Milan Romelu Lukaku has been in sensational form. The striker has 44 goals and 10 assists in his 64 games for Inter in Serie A. This season Inter Milan are at the 1st position in the table and are the favorites to win the title.
Lukaku has 27 goals and 8 assists to his name this season too and Roman Abramovic wants someone like him at Chelsea. According to reports from Calciomercato Chelsea are looking to broker a deal for Lukaku.
The Blues know that Lukaku will come for a hefty fee as his price tag is set at 81 million Euros. Assuming that Chelsea can bolster the funds required there will still be a problem left for the North London club.
Inter Milan are set to win the league while Chelsea are still battling for a top 4 spot. If they fail to qualify for the Champions League they will lose their calling card. Erling Haaland has clearly stated that he wants to be in the Champions League.
Something similar goes with Lukaku too. Also, the player’s stance on the move is still unclear. There are no guarantees that Lukaku would entertain a return to Chelsea as he’s doing pretty well with Inter Milan.
