Back in those days, Rishabh Pant struggled to score runs on a consistent basis. Although he had all the tools and ingredients as an attacking batsman, he came under fire for his poor form. Experts lashed out at him for not taking the game seriously as he used to throw his by playing rash shots.
He was one of the members of the 2019 World Cup team. However, the selectors did not pick him for the limited-overs series against Australia. Pant did not play ODI and T20Is because of his inconsistency.
The team management did not even pick him in the Test series against Australia. However, he was only added to the playing XI after Wriddhiman Saha failed to add value in the series opener. Although Pant wasn’t an automatic selection, he made his presence count on the pitch in the third and fourth Test.
The southpaw essayed a flamboyant 97 in the SCG Test. As a result, Team India settled for a pulsating draw. Pant once again lived up to the reputation by scoring an unbeaten 89 in the series decider. His match-winning knock helped Ajinkya Rahane & Co script a historic Test series win in Australia.
Pant was adjudged the man of the match for his heroics. He continued to shine even in the ongoing Test series against England. In the first Test, he scored a sensational 91 and followed it up with 58* in the second Test.
Pant welcomes his girlfriend on Instagram
Cricketers romancing with their girlfriends on social media is quite common these days. We all know that Rishabh Pant is in a relationship. His social media activities tell the whole story about his bonding with Isha Negi.
Most of the supporters must know Isha Negi. Pant and Isha have frequently posted pictures with each other on a photo-blogging platform. Sadly, Pant’s girlfriend lost her Instagram account very recently.
However, she finally returned to Instagram now. Meanwhile, Pant welcomed her back in a grand fashion with a story. The screenshot attached below is doing the rounds on social media.
Rishabh in line for white-ball squads
Pant hasn’t featured in a limited-overs game since January 2020. Although he flew to New Zealand with the hope of playing cricket, he warmed the bench. The cricketer missed all the 8 fixtures (ODIs and T20I) because KL Rahul was the chosen one.
Meanwhile, KL Rahul will be the primary choice even if Pant makes a comeback. According to The Times of India, Rishabh Pant is in line to play the upcoming T20I and ODI series against England. The report further adds that Sanju Samson could play down the order and thus, Pant may get a chance to feature in the team.
Earlier, the Indian selectors dropped the youngster from the white-ball squads at least 3 times since his maiden call-up in 2017. However, this time around, he earned the trust of the Indian captain and the selectors. Meanwhile, India defeated England by 317 runs to level the series 1-1.
Pant will return to action for the third Test match against England at Motera Stadium in Ahmedabad. The upcoming match will expect a maximum capacity of 1,10,000 fans in the world’s largest cricket stadium. The fourth Test will also kick-off in the same venue.
