Rishabh Pant is the best wicket-keeper when it comes to providing live entertainment on the field. His continuous murmur from beneath the stumps not only disturbs the opposition but also brings a smile on everyone’s lips. A similar incident happened in a recent IPL match against Rajsathan Royals as well.
IPL 2021 is currently underway with strictest norms than ever. All the required covid 19 protocols are in place. To top that, the over rate policy has been strengthened too. As per rules, a team needs to complete the full quota of 20 overs in 90 minutes. Failing to comply with the same will invite penalty, ban from matches and lot more.
Chennai Super Kings skipper, MS Dhoni has already faced the wrath earlier this season because of slow over rate. The former Indian captain was punished with a whopping 12 lakhs against DC. This has served as a warning for others not to repeat it from the very onset of the event.
Rishabh Pant is leading the Delhi Capitals side this time and he is trying all possible efforts to prove his mettle. His team managed to demolish the favourites, CSK in the opening match much to everyone’s awe. He is also well aware of the slow over rate penalties and was constantly seen urging his players to speed up things.
However, during the 7th over bowled by Ravichandran Ashwin, the on-field umpires stopped the play for a while to check the number of players outside the 30 yard circle. Rishabh Pant known to be a perfect entertainer, grabbed the limelight and cheekily told the umpire that this delay is because of him and he should not be held accountable for the slow over rate.
This piece was caught in the stump mic and the fans could not help storm twitter with comments. He was heard saying : “This one minute is taken by you umpire”.

Rishabh Pant takes command for his side
Rishabh Pant is a busy captain on the field. Besides marshalling his troops, he is also cheekily asking the umpires to hurry up. The slow over rate fever is on all the captains at the moment and Pant is not willing to take any chance.
Coming to the match, DC skipper won the toss and chose to bat first. This served as a boomerang for the team as they lost 4 crucial wickets in just 37 runs.Struggling to score runs on a slow pitch, Rishabh Pant decided to take his team over the line.
He played a scintillating knock of 51 runs in just 32 deliveries blasting 09 boundaries during his tenure. It was his first half century as a skipper but he did not survive long enough to reap the benefits. Riyan Parag got the better off him with a direct hit, pushing the capitals to the back foot again. There were no major contributions from others. Bowlers Unadkat and Mustafizur were the best of bowlers for the Royals and restricted the capitals to 147 runs.
Rajasthan Royals steal the low scoring thriller
In response, Rajasthan Royals had an even more unsteady start. They lost half of the side in just 42 runs.David Miller was playing as the lone warrior for the side. He secured a brilliant 62 off just 43 deliveries to keep the hopes of the Royals alive in the match. However, his departure towards the end brought the game to a low scoring thriller.
Despite the magnificent services of Avesh Khan, Kagiso Rabada and Chris Woakes, Chris Morris’s late yet crucial knock took the royals over the line. Morris bagged 36 runs towards the end with 04 enormous sixes. With a draught of sixes in the match, he made it look so easy at the end smashing 12 runs off the last over to win the match for the royals in style.
