Manchester United have already lost two Premier League games this season as question marks over coach Jose Mourinho’s future at the club have gone through the roof.
Manchester United beat Leicester City in their first English Premier League game this season. But since then, they have lost to Brighton and Hove Albion and Tottenham Hotspur before they bounced back to winning ways with a comfortable 2-0 victory against Burnley.
In spite of rumours that Jose Mourinho has the backing of the team management and they will give him adequate time to steady the ship – that is Manchester United – reports across Europe also suggest that Zidane would replace the former Real Madrid gaffer and take over the reins at Manchester United.
According to Le10Sport in France, Atletico Madrid Superstar and World Cup winner with France in Russia 2018, Antoine Griezmann will be Zidane’s No.1 target, if he indeed replaces Mourinho at the Old Trafford. In the recently closed summer transfer window, Griezmann had attracted numerous clubs, but eventually decided to remain at Atletico Madrid.
Griezmann had offers from clubs including FC Barcelona, Manchester United and Real Madrid. However, Griezmann who played a pivotal role in France’s World Cup triumph, stunned everyone as he confirmed he would stay at the Wanda Metropolitano.
However, it remains to be seen if Mourinho would get sacked and Zidane would replace him, Manchester United registered a comfortable victory against Burnley in their recent clash as they kept a clean sheet – it would have made Mourinho happier – and scored two goals in the first half of the game. Nevertheless, Manchester United youngster and England International Marcus Rashford got a red-card and United were forced to complete the game with 10 players.
Griezmann will be a great addition to Manchester United if it eventually happens. With the future of players like Paul Pogba, Anthony Martial remain uncertain, Manchester United must start to act and do whatever is needed to find a solution for the problems that have been haunting the Old-Trafford this season. Zidane will be a good option for Manchester United, given he helped Real Madrid win three consecutive UEFA Champions League titles.
