Even though Real Madrid did not spend much this summer, the Los Blancos are famous for their big-money signings, but this club can spend more than what the defending UEFA Champions League winners can.
Defending La Liga Champions and Spanish behemoths FC Barcelona will be allowed to spend more than Real Madrid this season. This is according to the latest new salary cap date released by the league. While FC Barcelona, as aforesaid, top the list, Real Madrid are second in the list, while city rivals Atletico Madrid is third in the list.
According to this data, FC Barcelona will be allowed to spend 632 million Euros in the 2018-19 season. Whereas, Real Madrid will only be allowed to spend 566 million Euros, 66 million Euros less than the defending Copa Del Ray champions. Another Madrid based club, Atletico Madrid, will be allowed to spend 293 million Euros during the 2018-19 season. Real Valladolid, a club which Ronaldo bought shares in, has the least salary cap among the 20 teams participating in the league. Real Valladolid can only spend 23 million Euros.
No team in the league are allowed to spend more than their salary cap. La Liga implemented ‘Salary Cap’ this back in 2013. The money that is spent on first-team, its players and coaches, reserve squad, youth team setup will also come under this Salary Cap.
But, Real Madrid fans, this is nothing that you would have to worry about. FC Barcelona, as aforesaid and obviously, are the defending winners and rightfully got the highest spending limit. Real Madrid, by letting Ronaldo go to Juventus, dropped a massive 23 million Euros wage bill from their expenditure.
Real Madrid will be looking to add any pertinent replacements for Cristiano Ronaldo in the January transfer window or in the summer transfer window. Mariano, who joined from Lyon, has inherited Ronaldo’s jersey No.7, but he is not the level of Ronaldo.
Real Madrid may have lost to Atletico Madrid in the UEFA Super Cup finals, but the team, under the tutelage of former Spain gaffer Julen Lopetegui, has started well in the Spanish La Liga. Real Madrid have already won all three games they have played so far this season. They will be looking to add more victories and continue their fine performance once the action restarts.
