FC Barcelona are interested in signing Sevilla defender Clement Lenglet as a potential replacement for their star defender Samuel Umtiti
FC Barcelona’s quest to sign Sevilla defender Clement Lenglet has taken a major twist today after Mundo Deportivo confirmed that he has agreed to a five years deal with Barcelona. The Blaugrana side had marked him as a potential replacement for their star Centre Back Samuel Umtiti, but now they want him at any cost irrespective of the fact whether the Frenchman stays or departs.
The representatives and agent of Lenglet have earlier met with Barcelona, who seemingly are happy with his price(approximately €35 million). They are pleased with his attributes and performance and are likely to crack a deal at the end of the season. Rumours about Samuel Umtiti’s transfer away from the Camp Nou has decreased a little from few days, although MD is reporting that the Blaugrana side are still trying their best to keep Umtiti in the club and stop his possible departure.
Sources close to them revealed that FC Barcelona has agreed to give the Frenchman a pay hike but are not willing to approve Umtiti’s increasing Demands. If the club does not agree on a new deal sooner or later, offers for Umtiti’s transfer will be directed towards the club because the Frenchman has a release clause of just €60 million.
Clement Lenglet will be a great addition to the Blaugrana side whether or not Umtiti stays or leaves. The current Sevilla Man is young and also has all the attributes that make him a potential star at Centre Back. But if Samuel Umtiti leaves that will be a major loss for the Blaugrana side, because the Frenchman is one of the current best Centre Back in the world and also has the potential to grow more.
He was also at his best in the ongoing season for Barcelona. So, Barcelona has to negotiate a contact sooner with Umtiti.
