Lionel Messi has been at the helm of football along with Cristiano Ronaldo for a decade. Being crowned the Fifa Player of the year shows that there is no end to his talent. However, just like all the great things, Messi is nearing his end too and this is a big worry at Camp Nou. The Catalans have been actively looking for his replacement and it seems they have found one. The rumour mill has it that the Spanish giants have their eyes on Jadon Sancho.
According to the Don Balon report, Borussia Dortmund have asked an extravagant price of €120million for Sancho. Other clubs interested in the 19-year-old prodigy are Man City, Man United.
However, Dortmund’s sporting director Michael Zorc, last week cleared the air and said there has been no decision made over Sancho’s future. “He has accepted the club and taken his development [at Dortmund] quite positively. I doubt that would have been possible with top English clubs,” Zorc said, reported Don Balon.
“We trust the players very early, and we are not afraid to let them play. He acknowledges that” he added.
Zorc went on to praise Sancho and said, “He’s an instinctive footballer, a street footballer, he’s always a footballer, but he’s always setting new limits. He does not sit back satisfied. He wants to play football successfully and beautifully. That alone is his motivation.”
Apart from the top European clubs showing interest in the youngster, Barcelona’s biggest rival is Real Madrid. Catalans and the Galacticos are currently in a transition phase. They have spent big to improve their attacking prowess. Adding Sancho to the mix would only take them to greater heights. Nonetheless, Sancho has no interest to move away from Dortmund until the end of this summer.
Is Jadon Sancho the man to carry Lionel Messi’s legacy?
Sancho is a Manchester City youth product and one of the most talented footballers in the camp. His talented had no limits and was one of the trio players who managed to impress Khaldoon Al Mubarak, Man City chairman. But it was after his move to Dortmund that he actually came into the limelight.
Sancho has been pivotal in Dortmund’s attacking trio and has been a game-changer for the club to challenge Bayern Munich’s dominance in Germany.
He has been praised by experts for his calmness with the ball and an eye for the pass. Sancho is the perfect modern football winger. The 19-year-old is fast, great ball control, good crosses and can score too. A complete package. He shows nearly all the traits to be called Messi’s successor and Barcelona’s answer to Madrid’s Ronaldo’s heir Vinicius Junior. But it is too early to say anything and have to wait for the summer to see how things unfold for the winger.
