Real Madrid vs Chelsea: The Champions League is back and it promises to be an exciting one. Real Madrid will host Chelsea at the Estadio Alfredo Di Stefano. In recent years we have seen many top clubs go head to head in the Champions League. However, Real Madrid vs Chelsea was always missing from the menu. This will be the first meetings between the two clubs since 1998.
It might be the first meeting between the two clubs in this century but Zinedine Zidane has previously faced Thomas Tuchel. In the previous four meetings, the Frenchman is winless against the German. Out of the four games they have faced each other, three have ended as draws and Tuchel has won once.
This will give Chelsea even more confidence given that they are unbeaten against Real Madrid till now. However, they have been losing their best players to the Spanish giants. Thibault Courtois and Eden Hazard left the club to join Los Blancos. While the Blues could only sign Alvaro Morata and Matteo Kovacic from their opponents.
Analysis: Real Madrid vs Chelsea
It is likely to be a low-scoring game considering how both the teams have played this season. The foundations of these two teams are built upon their strong defence. Real Madrid being the home side will try to dominate possession. Their plan will be to play the ball quickly in transitions and then swing in crosses inside the box.
Since the arrival of Thomas Tuchel, the Blues have become very effective on counter-attacks. It is likely that they will get a goal through counter-attacks. They will also have to wary of Real Madrid’s press. Since Zinedine Zidane’s men are the home side they will try to put pressure on the visiting team.
Chelsea has already shown that in the FA Cup semi-final against Manchester City that they can pass their way out from any pressing. It will be difficult for Real Madrid to get the better of this team in most of the aspects.

Head to Head Stats: Real Madrid vs Chelsea
In competitive games, Real Madrid and Chelsea have faced each other three times. The Blues have won once and the other game ended in a draw.
Real Madrid- Karim Benzema
In recent seasons the Frenchman has shown his goalscoring prowess. However, Zidane’s side has been heavily reliant on him for goals. This season he has scored 27 goals in all competitions. Chelsea has been very strong defensively under Tuchel. If they are able to keep him quiet, Los Blancos will struggle for goals.
The Italian’s presence in the midfield can make or break the game for the Blues. Kante will be busy against Kroos, this would mean Jorginho will have to bypass Casemiro and Modric to link up the play. Real Madrid could try to double team upon him given his lack of pace but if he is able to beat that, Chelsea will be able to create promising situations.
The 12th Man Prediction: Real Madrid 0:2 Chelsea
Recently Los Blancos have struggled for goals and Chelsea has been very strong defensively. Even in attack if Werner is unable to get them goals, the likes of Giroud or Havertz are capable of causing damage.
