Harry Kane, who scored 6 goals in FIFA World Cup 2018, bagged the Golden Boot and he remains on Madrid’s radar as Ronaldo’s replacement.
Real Madrid could sign England’s World Cup hero Harry Kane this summer, reports Don Balon. The 25-year-old recently signed a new, 6-year contract with English Premier League side Tottenham Hotspur. Despite that, it is reported that Kane could leave Tottenham if any European team meets his asking price, which is £202m.
Following Real Madrid’s shocking defeat at the hands of Atletico Madrid in the UEFA Super Cup, there has been immense pressure from fans to sign big-name players. Their performance against Atletico has already triggered questions marks over whether the club could continue from where they left last season.
Cristiano Ronaldo left Real Madrid earlier this summer and joined Juventus. However, Real Madrid have not yet been able to find a replacement for Ronaldo. They made numerous attempts to sign world-class players as a replacement for Ronaldo, but nothing materialized.
Real Madrid have to fill the void left by Ronaldo. Against Atletico Madrid, players like Asensio failed to impress one and all. This has also forced Real Madrid to search for Ronaldo’s replacement. Harry Kane, who was in incredible form for Tottenham last season, is an out-and-out striker and could end Real Madrid’s concerns upfront.
If Real Madrid manages to lure away the services of Harry Kane, it’d also ensure them they get a reliable goalscorer. Kane scored 30 goals for Tottenham Hotspur last season. The Englishman’s performances also played an important role in Tottenham’s 3rd-place finish last season, above Liverpool, Chelsea and Arsenal.
Real Madrid will face Getafe CF in their first La Liga match this season. Lopetegui and Co. will be aiming to deliver a commanding performance and a winning start to the new campaign.
Harry Kane has been performing consistently for Tottenham Hotspur in the recent years. He has the potential to fill the void left by Cristiano Ronaldo at Real Madrid. If Kane joins Real Madrid, it would strengthen their attacking lineup which already has players like Gareth Bale, Marco Asensio, Karim Benzema.
