Los Blancos were hit hard by Ronaldo’s move to Juventus but they might have more to worry about, as his partner-in-crime, Marcelo has been rumored with a move to Italy as well.
Real Madrid was warned about it immediately after the Champions League final. But they did not take it seriously. After Ronaldo’s comments about the question marks over his future, Marcelo replied by saying that he will also leave the club if the No. 7 departs.
More than two months after that night in Kiev, Ronaldo is no longer a Real Madrid player. And the Brazilian wing-back has also fuelled the rumor mill with his recent activities.
Marcelo to follow Ronaldo?
As reported by AS, Marcelo has not joined the Madrid squad after his summer break. His Brazilian team-mate, Casemiro reported for the training after their participation in the World Cup, but Marcelo was nowhere to be seen. The defender has not given any reason for his absence as well. The 30-year old’s actions have fuelled the rumor mill as Gazzetta Dello Sport reported that he might be on his way to Juventus.
Marcelo wants to continue playing with Ronaldo as the players share a great relationship both on and off the pitch. The left back’s case was further strengthened after Juventus put Alex Sandro in the transfer market. Marcelo has worked with Ronaldo for nine seasons in Real Madrid. The Brazilian’s crosses from the left-flank had created countless chances for the Madrid’s top goal scorer during their time for Los Blancos.
Real Madrid will face Juventus in the pre-season friendly in the United States. The European champions will kick-start their season with the UEFA Super Cup game against Atletico Madrid on 15th August.

It might just be the case of Marcelo deciding to treat himself with a few more days of holidays. But Real Madrid needs to make sure he stays at the club. After Ronaldo’s departure, Los Blancos cannot afford anyone else from their core team to depart.
