The Los Blancos have not completely forgotten about Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Christian Eriksen as the summer transfer window still has two weeks to go.
Following Cristiano Ronaldo’s departure from Real Madrid to Juventus a few weeks ago for a massive transfer fee of €105 million, there is a massive void left at the Santiago Bernabeu. The Portuguese international left Madrid as the club’s all-time top goalscorer and his presence will be missed for the upcoming campaign.
The European champions have been linked with replacing Ronaldo with a massive signing with the names like Neymar from Paris Saint Germain and Chelsea’s Eden Hazard the most likely candidates who could fit the bill. However, Real Madrid was interested in signing up Christian Eriksen long before Ronaldo even left the Spanish capital.
According to Marca, Real Madrid are targeting Danish international Christian Eriksen in the next two weeks before the transfer window ends. The Tottenham star has been incredible for his club as he has orchestrated Spurs’ attacks and also did well for his national side at the FIFA World Cup in Russia. This has made his value grow even further but Real Madrid will be willing to purchase the attacker.
The 26-year-old has a style of play that should fit in well with Julen Lopetegui’s team as he turns defense into attack and his fine shot and goalscoring ability would benefit the La Liga giants heavily. Tottenham Hotspur president Daniel Levy will certainly play hardball over the transfer fee of Eriksen as he did back when Gareth Bale made his move to the Spanish capital.
But he agreed to let go of the Welshman after Madrid offered a substantial value for the winger and will probably have to do so again for Eriksen.
Eriksen would be a fine addition to Real Madrid’s side because he has the ability to make things happen and his set-piece ability would probably emulate relatively close characteristics to Cristiano Ronaldo.
