Real Madrid Star Could Face A One Game Ban After A Tunnel Bust Up

Real Madrid captain Sergio Ramos Is Facing a ban in the first leg of the semi-finals after an altercation with Juventus manager Massimiliano Allegri.

The Los Blancos were struggling to book their place into the semi-finals of the Champions League after visitor’s Juventus scored three goals in a space of sixty minutes to cancel out the three away goals they conceded in Turin. However, there was late drama in the second leg of the tie as Madrid were awarded a penalty and Cristiano Ronaldo stepped up to finally ensure that his side goes through to the last four after Juventus keeper Gianluigi Buffon got sent off by referee Michael Oliver.

Ramos has already seen 24 red cards in a Real Madrid shirt.

However, tempers were flaring and fuming in the away bench as Juventus manager Massimiliano Allegri was visibly frustrated by the ref’s decision late in stoppage time. Madrid captain Sergio Ramos, who was suspended from the second leg encounter was watching the game from the stands but came down to the dug-out in the second half as he watched his side surrender a three-goal advantage.

The Spaniard was involved in a verbal exchange with Allegri near the final whistle after Ronaldo tucked his penalty away. And could now face a ban for what he did inside the tunnel as the players left the pitch.

Inside News-

According to the UEFA rules, a player who is suspended cannot be near the managing area of the pitch during or immediately after the game concludes. Some of the Inside officials at Madrid knew of this violation but did not inform Ramos of the stipulation with UEFA.  The report also claims that there was an altercation between the unhappy Juventus players and the celebrating Madrid players inside the tunnel as the away side kept hassling referee Michael Oliver regarding the penalty incident well after the game.

If Oliver decides to involve Ramos in his post-match report, there is a big chance that Ramos could face another ban for the next semi-final first leg against one of the other three sides; Bayern Munich, Liverpool or AS Roma.

Author’s Take-

I think that this issue of Ramos coming down from the stands and getting involved with the Juventus players is so silly, but it is not the first time in his career he has done something like this. If he misses another game in the semi-final this time, Madrid could be in big trouble because he is their commander and leader on the pitch. In his absence, Madrid almost lost the tie at the Santiago Bernabeu.
