Los Blancos goalkeeper Keylor Navas has issued a massive blow to other European suitors that he wants to end his career at Real Madrid.
Navas has been incredible for Real Madrid over the past three seasons helping the La Liga giants to win three consecutive Champions League titles in a row. The Costa Rican has been the first choice for Madrid between the posts ever since Zinedine Zidane took charge of the club. However, after the French legend decided to step down from the managerial position earlier this month a lot of players had some scrutiny over their futures.
Cristiano Ronaldo and Gareth Bale put their futures in jeopardy after the Champions League final against Liverpool but Navas has assured the Madrid faithful that he would like to retire at the Santiago Bernabeu.
Navas Wants To Retire At Real Madrid-
Speaking to news outlet Marca, the 31 year old goalkeeper heaped praise on the fans and stated that has made him extremely happy to just stay put at the Santiago Bernabeu, “The kindness that the fans show me all the time is incredible and I am very grateful to all of them Whatever the sporting situation, they are always behind me. In the stadium, I always hear the shouts of support that motivate me and when I walk through Madrid people always come up to me and show me their support, they say ‘don’t go, we love you’.
Navas also hinted at spending the rest of his career at Real Madrid if the club decides to offer him a contract extension, “I’m a Real Madrid player and I have a contract until 2020. I’ve always said that I’m very happy at Real Madrid and I hope that, if God wishes, I can retire at this club. I’m very happy at the club, in the city, with my team-mates, so my head is in Real Madrid and to keep enjoying this team”
I don’t think that Real Madrid will give Navas a contract extension because he has made plenty of errors this season and those mistakes have cost Madrid dear at times in the La Liga. If the Spanish capital needs to compete for the treble against arch-rivals Barcelona, they need to have a near perfect squad.
