Real Madrid star arrives in London to finalize potential Premier League move

Real Madrid attacking midfielder Isco has been spotted in London amidst rumors linking him with a potential move to Chelsea during the January transfer window.

Chelsea have been reportedly offered the chance to sign the 27 year old in a £44 m deal by Real Madrid next month. The La Liga giants are reportedly open to Isco leaving to fund a transfer for Tottenham star Christian Eriksen. The 27 year old has struggled to pin down a regular place at the Bernabeu under coach Zinedine Zidane, having failed to score or provide an assist in his ten La Liga appearances this season.

Real Madrid have also been looking to sell outcasts such as Isco, Gareth Bale and James Rodriguez in recent transfer windows to comply with UEFA’s Financial Fair Play rulings. According to a report by Marca, Los Blancos need to balance the books after spending £295 m in the summer to bring in the likes of Eden Hazard, Luka Jovic, Ferland Mendy and Rodrygo Goes while recouping just £126 m in player sales.

UEFA’s rulings state that the maximum net spend one club can have is €100m (£85m). The difference between the two figures is of huge concern to Madrid as of now and could lead to them facing FFP sanctions should they fail to close it down. Chelsea manager Frank Lampard is looking to strengthen his squad after being handed a £150 m transfer kitty to spend Isco has been listed as a potential target for quite some time.

The Spaniard has now added fuel to the fire after posting an image on his Instagram account of himself and his family seemingly doing some sight seeing in London. There’s nothing to indicate a deal is close right now, but seeing this picture does make you wonder if something might be going on but has certainly got some Chelsea fans licking their lips at the prospect of their club singing the creative midfielder.

Isco is a top class central midfielder but he often gets shunted out wide on the wings for Real which doesn’t suit his game. He has been a key component of Real Madrid’s unprecedented success in recent years – helping the side to La Liga and Copa del Rey titles in addition to four Champions League titles. The 27 year old is also a vital player for Spain and could make a big difference for Chelsea if he decides to join.
