Real Madrid has taken a huge step towards acquiring the signature of Sergej Milinković-Savić as they prepare a blockbuster bid and is set to beat Manchester United.
Sergej Milinković-Savić has become a subject of interest of the European press since the last couple of months. The host of elite European clubs are monitoring the Spain born Serbian midfielder including the likes Manchester United and Barcelona. But perhaps, from nowhere, European champions Real Madrid have entered the race for the midfielder in stunning fashion and latest reports suggest club owner Florentino Perez enjoyed a meeting with Savic’s agent Mateja Kezman.
Milinkovic-Savic has become one of the hottest prospects in Europe and of course, his price-tag of £120 million reflects that. It’s reported that the Los Blancos are ready to splash €155 million cash on Serbian prodigy as the La Liga outfit looks to add a trait of reliability and versatility in their midfield department. Milinkovic-Savic was on top of his form in Italy last season with netting 12 goals to become the highest scoring midfielder of Seria A. Real Madrid are desperate to bring a bigger name to the squad as Christiano Ronaldo’s future still unclear with previous reports stating the superstar has agreed to commit his future to Juventus.
Milinkovic-Savic has always admitted to being a Real Madrid supporter after spending his childhood in Spain and could become Los Blancos’ record signing. The Old Trafford giants are seemingly less willing to break the bank for another high profile central midfielder, having already sealed the signing of Brazilian ace Fred for £52 million. The 23-year-old predominantly piles his trade as a central midfielder but his trait of versatility permits him to play a number of roles.

When asked about his future, the Lazio man revealed: “I need a little bit of rest now. I’ll return to Rome and I would be happy if I stay at Lazio, as I’m content there and I have a contract.”
Real Madrid’s owner Florentino Perez is plotting a major squad overhaul this summer transfer window after club’s disappointing 3rd place finish in La Liga last season.
Although deal looks unlikely, the Serbian midfield prodigy Milinkovic Savic would surely inject firepower in Spanish side’s midfield area and could turn out be an ideal acquisition in many ways. However, this cannot be an answer to Ronaldo’s shaky transfer situation. The Los Blancos need to sort their talismans’ situation very soon and should prepare transfer plan accordingly.
