The Los Blancos have been chasing the Premier League superstar for quite some time, but according to reports Real Madrid has rejected any approach for a potential swap deal.
While Real Madrid does have one foot in the Champions League finals after a 2-1 victory over Bayern Munich at the Allianz Arena, their struggles in the La Liga have been widely noted. The Los Blancos have still struggled for both points and defensively this season, conceding the most goals among the top four teams in the Spanish top tier.
That’s exactly why president Florentino Perez is highly insistent on spending big during the summer window to completely revamp his current squad. The Real Madrid president wants to usher in a brand new era of Galacticos and has thus created a massive war chest. That combined with the fact, that a few of the current stars will be sold, will only widen Perez’s eyes as the money rolls in. The likes of Gareth Bale, Karim Benzema, Isco Alarcon, Marco Asensio, Keylor Navas and even Cristiano Ronaldo have all been part of a rumored list of stars to be sold.
That’s exactly why the Los Blancos have created a shortlist to replace said stars, and one such superstar currently plys his trade in the Premier League. The Egyptian international has taken the English top tier by storm, with a simply sensational debut season with Liverpool. 30 goals and 10 assists in just the Premier league later, the world and Liverpool fans praise Jurgen Klopp for his ingenuity and craftiness after the Liverpool boss snagged Mohamed Salah for just 42 million.
However, that kind of form does allow Liverpool to set any potential transfer fee at an exorbitant amount and the Reds have done just that. According to reports from the Daily Star, the Premier League giants have offered Real Madrid Mohamed Salah but they have one request. They also want Gareth Bale plus €150 million for the Egyptian, which would put the potential transfer fee around €230 million.
It further adds that Real Madrid president has reportedly rejected the offer as Florentino Perez believes that Mohamed Salah is not worth that much. The Los Blancos do have other targets, which includes the likes of Neymar, Eden Hazard, Marcus Rashford, Anthony Martial, Raheem Sterling, Leroy Sane and many others. But few have managed to perform as well as Salah has this season, with the Egyptian winning the PFA Player of the year.
Bringing in Mohamed Salah for just €42 million will go down as one of Jurgen Klopp shrewdest deals, especially given how prolific the 25-year-old has been. But while no one could have predicted this and Liverpool will have a tough time next season especially with the likes of Real Madrid and even Barcelona very interested in the Egyptian’s services.
