Los Blancos have identified AS Roma’s Alisson Becker as their number one target to replace Costa Rica star Keylor Navas in the goal.
Real Madrid has had a rather underwhelming campaign so far and the only form of silverware they can achieve is by winning the Champions League for the third consecutive season. The Spanish champions are in the process of preparing a massive change of players at the club including shot-stopper, Costa Rican Keylor Navas, who has conceded some silly goals during this term.
Over the past few seasons, there were a lot of rumors that the La Liga giants would lure Manchester United’s David De Gea to the Santiago Bernabeu and if a move for the Spaniard failed, they would settle for Chelsea superstar Thibaut Courtois who has reportedly wanted an exit from London to rejoin La Liga. But amidst all these links there has been another stellar keeper who has risen to fame in the form of Brazilian Alisson Becker.
Alisson has been immense for Serie A side AS Roma so far aiding the Italian’s to the quarter-finals of the Champions League. His incredible performances have caught Real Madrid’s eye, who are keen on making him their prime target after the FIFA World Cup 2018.
Why Go After Alisson?
25-year-old Brazilian keeper is the first choice for his national side, picked ahead of Manchester City’s Ederson Moares. In 37 appearances so far, Alisson has kept an impressive 17 clean sheets in all competitions this season and he would be relatively cheaper than either De Gea or Courtois, who are comparatively difficult to poach from the English giants. Roma has valued Alisson at close to €50-€60 million while his contract with the Italian capital side runs out in 2021.
I think Alisson is the most wanted keeper at the moment. Real Madrid will be the favorites to secure his services in the summer, but Liverpool and a few other elite clubs will provide competition for the Brazilian. Alisson has shown great potential and may need to move to a bigger club in order to win more trophies.
