Sunil Gavskar makes a Huge Statement for Ravi Ashwin and wants an exception for him in Team

R Ashwin is currently the most prominent bowler in the Indian cricket team in Test format. R Ashwin, He is the spearhead of the Indian bowling,.He was not given a chance during the two-match Test series against the West Indies and the team management preferred Ravindra Jadeja over him.

After the team management did not give R Ashwin a chance in the playing XI, he was strongly criticized, but R Ashwin also proved that he is the best spin bowler of India today by coming to India and bowling brilliantly against South Africa.

In the first Test match played against South Africa in Visakhapatnam, R Ashwin has replied back fiercely to his critics, while Sunil Gavaskar has again hit the team management for not believing in Ashwin in the West Indies.

In the first Test match between India and South Africa, Sunil Gavaskar spoke big during the commentary on the third day of the match. Sunil Gavaskar said that

Ravi Ashwin gets a big nod from Sunil Gavskar after the First Test

“He has also got to feel he has got the confidence of the people around him. When you don’t have the confidence of people around you, when you keep getting sidelined then you try a little too hard”. t not feel that he is not comfortable in the Indian set up.”

“Ashwin should be a certainty. The fact that he has not been made to feel the comfort level is the reason why we are seeing him struggle a little bit,” Gavaskar told official broadcasters after the end of first session on Day 3 of the ongoing Test.

“I think they always have less comparisons. He is compared to Nathan Lyon while playing in Australia. Nathan Lyon is doing so. But Leon is bowling against the Indian batsmen. Likewise in England, when Moeen. Ali got 6 or 7 wickets. You say they didn’t get any wickets.”

Sunil Gavaskar further said that  “I think there is more to it than just cricketing performances which is the reason he just finds himself sidelined more often than somebody with his record should be. Somebody who has got almost 350 wickets can’t be sidelined as regularly as he has been,”

Sunil Gavaskar also commented that Indian Team should always play with 5 bowlers in the lineup.

“If it’s going to be like this, then you need an extra bowler. Whether it is a spinner or a seamer, it depends on the surface. I think India can afford 5 batsmen. And with Ashwin who has 4 Test centuries and also Jadeja. They can bat well against South Africa.”
